Introduction

Flooding is commonly the most difficult issues not only in the Philippines, but also
throughout the world today. As indicated by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and
Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), flooding is described as an "unusual
dynamic ascent in the water level of a stream that may bring about the flooding by the
water of the ordinary limits of the stream with the ensuing immersion of zones which are
not typically submerged (2006)." Floods are ordered by its characteristic and counterfeit
causes.

In the city of Manila, the normal reasons for flooding incorporates the overflowing
of the Pasig-Marikina-San Juan Rivers because of high waterway level combined with
elevated tides during the wet season from May to October; lacking inland waste offices
to deal with the abundance neighborhood surface run-off especially in the low-lying focal
piece of the city; high water level in Laguna Lake which influences the lake's shores for
expanded periods, because of over the top run-off and restricted lake surges; and likely
land subsidence (Daligdig, and Besana, 1993). Likewise, Liongson states that to normally
actuated flood catastrophes, the man-made exercises additionally exasperate the
circumstance in Manila and its rural areas.

Based on https://b-air.com/2018/02/common-causes-flooding/ top three main

cause of flooding are; (1) heavy rains, (2) overflowing rivers, (3) broken damns. This
actually shows that catastrophic events are the main reasons of flood. In line with this,
the researchers choose to introduce the Flood Control System as a possible prevention
to flood. The flood control system has its in-built high-water level sensor which
automatically activate the wall in the riversides in order to prevent the big possibility of
flooding especially on small communities near the rivers.
Statement of the Problem

The purpose of this study is to develop a flood control system which can be use as
a flood prevention device especially on communities near the rivers.

Specifically, it seeks to answer the following general questions:

1. How to design a flood control system?

2. What are the materials to be use?
3. How long will it last?
4. How much it will cost?

Scope and Delimitations

The main focus of this study was the design of a Flood Control System. The system
will be using water sensor as the power button of the device. This water sensor is
designed to detect the presence of water for purposes such as to provide an alert in time
to allow the prevention of flooding. The proposed study is limited only in the riverside
area. A few computations, suspicions, and choices were made as a thought of an
appropriate and sensible structure.
Significance of the Study

The result of the study will be considered important to the following;

Community. The outcome of the study will serve as the possible solution to the most
encountered problem during typhoons.

Government. The study will help the government to prevent flooding in low-lying areas
or riverside areas. The study may serves as the building blocks of creating a flood-free
societies.

Future Researchers. The study will serve as a guide to future researchers for their first
research and will help them to improve the function of the Flood Control System.
