Measurement

The word measurement simply means determining thr attributes or dimensions of an object, skill or
knowledge.

Assessement

One of the primary measurement tools in education is the assesement. Teachers gather information
by giving test, conducting interviews and monitoring behaviour

Evaluation

In education evaluation is the process of using the measurement gathered in the assesement.
Teachers use this information to judge the relationship between what was intended by the
instuction and what was learned. They evaluate the information gathered to determine what
students know and understand how far they have progressed and how fast and how their scores and
progress compare to those of other students.

Assessment: The process of gathering information to monitor progress and make


educational decisions if necessary. As noted in my definition of test, an assessment may
include a test, but also includes methods such as observations, interviews, behavior
monitoring, etc.

Evaluation: Procedures used to determine whether the subject (i.e. student) meets a
preset criteria, such as qualifying for special education services. This uses assessment
(remember that an assessment may be a test) to make a determination of qualification in
accordance with a predetermined criteria.

Measurement, beyond its general definition, refers to the set of procedures and the
principles for how to use the procedures in educational tests and assessments. Some of the
basic principles of measurement in educational evaluations would be raw scores, percentile
ranks, derived scores, standard scores, etc.

judgment about a given situation. Generally, any evaluation process requires information
about the situation in question. A situation is an umbrella term that takes into account such
ideas as objectives, goals, standards, procedures, and so on.

Why does a good teacher have to have good knowledge on evaluation, measurement,
test, and assessment?"

Because with a good knowledge on evaluation, measurement, test and assessment a


good teacher can:

1. accumulate the experiences and follow-up diagnosed results. The weaknesses of the
pupils in the class can be identified and remedied, thus pupils’ performance is enhanced.
2. measure pupils’ achievement and motivate pupils’ learning. Pupils have the right to know
the progress they are making whether they have attained the objectives of the subject
matter or not, thus results must be made known to them. It can also encourage pupils to
study more. They will be motivated to participate actively in class and exert all efforts just
to make certain that they pass. They will know the quality and amount of work they have
to strive for.
3. predict pupils’ success and diagnoses pupils’ difficulty. The success and failure of a pupil
in the class can be predicted through it. The area where pupils excel must be enhanced
or strengthened and where pupils fail should be remedied. The difficulties of the pupils
should be given the priority for remediation. Knowing the successes and difficulties of the
pupils, the teacher will be able to focus on the spots that need enhancement or
remediation.

It is hope that through evaluation, measurement, test and assessment results serve as the
basis for the teacher to use appropriate teaching strategies and techniques that will improve
instruction and provide the necessary learning for a pupil to acquire the knowledge and skills
he needs.

Authentic assessment is multiple forms of assessment that reflect student learning,


achievement, motivation and on instructionally-relevant classroom activities (O’Malley &
Pierce, 1996). Particularly, according to the regulation of the Minister of Education and
Culture No. 81, year 2013 about the implementation of 2013 Curriculum, an authentic
assessment is an assessment which significantly focuses on measuring student’s learning
process dealing with their behavior, knowledge and skill. Accordingly, teachers are required
to assess students’ skills using performance, project, and portfolio assessments.
Performance assessment is an assessment which is conducted by observing student’s
activities in doing particular activity; portfolio assessment is defined as a continuous
assessment process based on a set of information that shows the development of students
competence in a given period of time; while project assessment is an integrated unit of
works which cannot be finished at a given time; it requires the students to do a series of
tasks resulting on specific product or data (the regulation of the Minister of Education and
Culture no. 104, year 2014).

Authentic Assessment

Authentic assessment refers to assessement that focuses on students using and applying
knowledge and skills in real life setting.

In my opinion a report book is authentic categorized because it contains the result of the
multiple form of authentic assesement that reflect students learning, achievement, motivation
and attitudes on instructionally relevant classroom activities.

KD merupakan penjabaran KI yang cakupan materinya lebih sempit dibanding dengan KI. KD
diturunkan menjadi indikator yang digunakan untuk menyusun tujuan pembelajaran. Seperti yang
ketahui, pembelajaran abad 21 secara sederhana diartikan sebagai pembelajaran yang memberikan
kecakapan abad 21 kepada peserta didik, yaitu 4C yang meliputi : Communication, Collaboration,
Critical Thingking and Problem solving, dan Creative and Innovative. Berdasarkan Taksonomi Bloom
yang telah direvisi, kemampuan yang perlu dicapai oleh siswa bukan hanya LOTS (Lower Order
Thinking Skills) yaitu C1 (mengetahui) dan C2 (memahami), MOTS (Middle Order Thinking Skills)
yaitu C3 (mengaplikasikan) dan C4 (menganalisis), tetapi juga harus ada peningkatan sampai HOTS
(Higher Order Thinking Skills), yaitu C5 (mengevaluasi) dan C6 (mengkreasi).

Untuk mewujudkan pembelajaran abad 21 dan HOTS, guru harus memiliki keterampilan proses yang
baik dalam pembelajaran, yang diartikan sebagai keterampilan guru dalam menyajikan
pembelajaran yang mampu memberikan pengalaman belajar yang bermakna dan menyenangkan
bagi siswa. Pembelajaran berpusat kepada siswa (student centre), dan merangsang siswa untuk
menyelesaikan masalah. Peran guru dalam PBM bukan hanya sebagai sumber belajar, tapi juga
sebagai fasilitator.
