Little[ or not[visited areas, unusual geological substrates, and various vegetation types
were explored in the following New Mexico Counties: Curry, De Baca, Guadalupe, Roosevelt,
Socorro, Torrance, and Valencia. Although not targeted, additional records and specimens were
also obtained from Colfax, Do^a Anna, Lincoln, Otero, San Miguel, Sierra, and Sandoval
Counties. Field work was conducted from KK April through EI September. We attempted to visit
each field site at least twice, and often three times, throughout the growing season.

In total, CIE new county records ?Table E@ were discovered including five new state records
?pending expert verification@. A complete list of records is available from Heil. Also a new
species of !"#$%&'% ?Fig. E@ was discovered in the San Mateo Mountains and additional material
of another new species of !"#$%&'% ?Fig. K@ from the summit of the Sandia Mountains was
collected.

These two new species will be described and submitted for publication in the next few
months. Scanning electron micrographs have already been made of the tricomes and DNA
sequences of the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacers have been obtained for
comparison with other species of !"#$%&'%, especially needed as (!) '1-#%*%/ superficially

the genus.

Floristic findings have been added to our growing database for the flora of New Mexico.
New state records are published in the 4-5 6-7'8. 9.,%*'$,. Tltimately, our work will be
published in a new flora for the state to be published by the Tniversity of New Mexico Press ?for
which we have a contract@.
