discuss why they think Cuneiform was invented the way it was

Students will work in collaborative groups to convey ideas to each other as well as present to whole
class using the interactive pear deck.

- Students will create Cuneiform math problems using clay and a paperclip

Introduction/Engagement:

Students will be given a promot from someone in the past, asking them to help solve the mystery of
Mesopotamia.

Independent Activities:
- Students will work in teams to uncover the secrets of the Mesopotamia Society.
Puzzles
1) Players will find and identify Hammurabi’s 8th, 6th, and 3rd code and use that to open the lock
2) Players will find a link to a website and a riddle within the lock box about Mesopotamia
agriculture (FLOOD)
3) Students will find the combined volume of cube units within the ziggurat models mention in the
two letters
4) Students will decode the cuneiform letters and write a new message
5) Players will follow the QR code and find interesting information about Mesopotamian
mathematics
6) Students will find word wheels and find the two words that go together (SCRIBES & TABLETS)

Modifications: Enrichment:
- Students will work in cooperative learning - Students will make an additional puzzle about
groups to scaffold the demands Mesopotamian achievement
