San Agustin NHS Management Information System

(SANHS MIS)

What is the problem you are trying to address?

While implementing information systems has been a trend to most organizations,

San Agustin National High School in Sagbayan, Bohol, despite it being the largest
secondary school in the district, is still practicing the traditional and paper-based
academic records management system and it has been the cause of a lot of setbacks in
the school operations.

The current practice does not only pose data integrity and privacy issues but has
also resulted to redundancy of tasks thus overwhelming teachers in the process and
resulting to a shortened teacher-student contact time in order to meet deadlines. Being
one of the teachers of the said institution, the proponent has the first-hand experience of
how tedious the current practice is, thus has prompted him to pursue implementing a
solution to the current dilemma.

What is your proposed solution?

The proposed solution is called the San Agustin National High School
Management Information System (SANHS MIS), a web-based suite of a Student
Information System, a Teacher Information System, and an Academic Records
Management Information System, designed to organize and automate the general
records management of San Agustin National High School for a faster service delivery to
clients and stakeholders by eliminating the redundancy of tasks in data entry, processing,
storing, and retrieving of records and eliminating data integrity issues, increasing the
teacher-student contact time in the process.

The SANHS MIS will utilize PHP and MySQL on the backend; and HTML, CSS,
Javascripts and the Bootstrap Framework on the front-end to make it easily deployable.

Who will benefit from your system?

In the proposed system, the students, instead of going directly to the section
advisers to enroll, who are not always present during enrollment period, will now have to
do it with the School Registrar instead. Admission slips will be provided right then and
there thus paving the way to a stress-free enrollment process.

The section advisers, as effect to the implementation, will no longer need to

manually write student data on school forms as they can just generate the print-ready
forms by logging on to the system. Moreover, the relieving teachers, will no longer need
to submit grades to the section advisers at the end of every grading period via paper
trails; instead, they can just logon to the system and submit grades to the students who
are enrolled to the subjects they are assigned to, online.

The parents on the other hand, can already make inquiries about their child’s
academic performance even without meeting the section advisers as the School Registrar
will have access to these records virtually.

Finally, when a school level report is needed, the School Principal can just logon
to the system and from there, be able to view and print the school performance indicators
from the dashboard.

How will you evaluate the effectivity of your system?

The MIS arose from the key element of assisting the management of an
organization in collecting, processing, storing and retrieving of relevant and up-to-date
information and what a better way to evaluate its effectivity, is to determine its level of
acceptability to the end users in terms of usefulness, ease of use, system capability, and
user satisfaction.

How confident are you that you can do it? (Rate yourself from 1 to 10)

If the proponent is to rate his confidence level to finish this proposed system, it
would be 10. The proponent is so motivated to pursue this project as he believes that it
is already time for the school to leap forward to the digital age and integrate ICT in its
core operations.
