Discussion

A. Simple future tense

Simple future tense comes from the word "simple" which means simple, "future"
which means the future and "tense" which means time / time. So simple future tense can be
interpreted as a simple form of verb that describes an action or event that will be carried
out in the future. This verb is used to express a desire (what will be done), to make
predictions (predict what events will occur) and to make conditional sentence type 1 (if
combined with other clauses using the conjunction "if"). In addition, if arranged in the form
of question sentences (interrogative), simple future tense can be to make an offer / request
(offer / order) and advice / advice (suggestion / advice).

Formula of Simple Future Tense Examples

positif (+) He will win.

(Dia akan menang.)
 S + will + bare infinitive

They are going to come.

 S + be (am/is/are) going to + bare infinitive (Mereka akan datang.)

negatif (-) He won’t win.

(Dia tidak akan menang.)
 S + will + not + bare infinitive

They aren’t going to come.

 S + be (am/is/are) + not + going to + bare infinitive (Mereka tidak akan datang.)

interogatif (?) Will he win?

(Apakah dia akan menang?)
 Will + S + bare infinitive

Are they going to come?

 Be (am/is/are) + S + going to + bare infinitive? (Apakah mereka akan datang?)

Notes:

 shall only be for subject I, you, we and they, not for 3rd singular person (she, he, it,
Nana, Budi, etc)

2
 Subjects that may use shall may also use will but 3rd singular person may not use
shall
 Will does not experience changes in form as in the simple present tense, for example
to "wills" or "will goes" but remains intact "will" or "will go" even though the subject
is a 3rd singular person (she, he, it, Nana, Budi, etc. ).
 Will not abbreviated won't willn't
 Shall not abbreviated shan't not shalln't
