Dino Days

Working with
Five Frames (1-10)
Dino Days~ Working with Five Frames
This math center is great to use at the beginning of the school year.
It will help your students with beginning number concepts.

There are three sets of five frame mats included in this packet. One
set is of blank five frame mats. The second set of five frame mats has
the corresponding dots and corresponding numeral in the top right
corner. The third set of five frame mats has the corresponding dots
only. Print, laminate, and cut out the numeral cards and the five frame
mats which meet the needs of your class. Provide your students with
counters. We like to use craft pom-poms as counters.

This activity may be completed for whole group instruction or

individually during center time. Children select a numeral card and
then build that number with counters on the five frame mat. Another
option is to provide students with the five frame mats with
corresponding dots. Students count the number of dots and then
match the corresponding numeral card to the five frame mat.

Two student response pages are also included. One has the blank five
frame mats so students may fill in/color the correct number of five
frame squares to build the number and then write the numeral. The
second response page has blank dots already in the five frame mats so
students may color the correct number of dots and then write the
numeral. Choose the response page that best fits the needs of your
students.
