Banerjee said:“The meeting

ing the name of West Ben-
gal to ‘Bangla’. He has prom-

Honey-trap gang
busted in MP, 3
women detained

has busted a gang of extor-
tionists who used to ‘honey-
trap’ politicians and high
ranking government offi-
cials by making objection-
able videos to blackmail
them. Three women associ-
ated with the gang were
also arrested, police said on
Thursday. The matter came
to light following a police
complaint by a senior gov-
ernment engineer in Indore.
He alleged that a
woman was blackmailing
him after befriending and
discretely recording his pri-
vate moments, the police
said. After preliminary in-
vestigation, the case was as-
signed to the Indore Crime
Branch which intimidated
the Madhya Pradesh Anti
Terrorist Squad (ATS) about
a ‘honey-trap’ racket operat-
ing in the state.
Killer tiger captured
in Rajasthan
Jaipur,
Following a seven-day
hunt, Rajasthan Forest De-
partment officials have fi-
nally captured a tiger, which
has killed three men since
February, in the jungles of
Karauli district.
The eight-month-old T-
104 tiger first killed one
Munni Devi in February in
Padli village falling under
Kundera Range. Then he at-
tacked and killed Roop
Singh in Kaila Devi forest
area last month. Recently, he
killed his third human victim
named Pintu Mali who was
attacked while he was
asleep inside his hut on Sep-
tember 11.
Different teams of offi-
cials were formed in the
state to hunt for the killer ti-
ger in Jaipur, Kota, Sawai
Madhopur and Karauli. The
officials that captured the
tiger had to also bear farm-
ers’ protest who were re-
strained from entering the
region as they had earlier
threatened to kill the tiger if
the forest authorities failed
to find and tranquillise it.

In a major jolt to former Finance Minister and senior
Congress leader P. Chidambaram, the special CBI judge ex-
tended his judicial custody till October 3 on Thursday.
Chidambaram, who has been lodged in Tihar jail since
September 5, when the court sent him to 14 days judicial
custody in the INX media case, was brought to the court
room earlier on Thursday. Opposing the CBI’s judicial cus-
tody extension application, senior advocate Abhishek
Manu Singhvi, appearing for Chidambaram said, “CBI ap-
plication does not give reasons for extension of judicial
custody and the accused (Chidambaram) has already been
in custody for 14 days.” Chidambaram is under investiga-
tion by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the
Enforcement Directorate (ED) for alleged irregularities in
the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance
granted to INX Media for receiving overseas funds to the
tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during his tenure as Union

gress chief Dr Ajoy Kumar,
once a Rahul Gandhi pro-
tege, has quit the grand old
party over his differences
with the party leaders in the
state. He joined the Aam

A former IPS officer,
Kumar was associated with

a search of the property lo-
cated in the municipality of
Zapopan, Efe news quoted
a statement by the state at-
torney general’s office as

On September 3, au-
thorities uncovered the well
more than 33 feet deep on
the land, from which they
extracted 119 bags of hu-
man remains belonging to
at least 44 people, out of
which 29 have been identi-
fied; 13 bodies have been
found whole and 16 in parts.
Two of the victims were
women and the rest men.

this day by the staff of the
prosecutor’s office specializ-
ing in missing persons on
the site of La Primavera, a
hole was located, inside
which lay plastic bags, ap-

After a Chinese couple was charged by the US govern-
ment with stealing intellectual property related to key
health data this week, cyber security researchers on Thurs-
day raised serious questions on growing Chinese espio-
nage in American healthcare.
The US government has charged Yu Zhou, 49, and Li
Chen, 46 with theft of scientific trade secrets from Ohio’s
Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Zhou and Chen established their own health startup in
China in 2015 while still employed with the Nationwide
Children’s Hospital in Ohio. They marketed products and
services related to “exosome isolation” through their Chi-
nese startup. Zhou and Chen allegedly used the hospital’s
research institute resources and equipment to conduct the
exosome research necessary for their unauthorized, out-
