INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
NEW CONSTRUCTION
LCP LYCORTILE® can be installed directly on steel or timber
rafters. For LCP LYCORTILE® with 300mm steps distance per
module, the batten spacing must be 300mm except at
the bottom where the spacing is reduced to 280mm. For
other module step distances, the batten spacing must
be adjusted according to the lengths. For controlled foot
traffic conditions, only internal span may be increased
to a maximum of 600mm. Refer to LCP Building Products
Pte. Ltd., Technical Department, for appropriate steel or
timber batten size.

RENOVATION/NEW CONSTRUCTION ON
TIMBER BOARDING OR PLYWOOD PANELS
LCP LYCORTILE® can be laid on timber boarding or
plywood or panels, which are at least 17mm thick.
Typical timber roofing tiling battens* are 25mm × 50mm
in size. These tiling battens* must be laid on counter
battens* of size 25mm×25mm running down the slope
at 600mm centres. For LCP LYCORTILE® with 300mm step
distance per module, the tiling batten* spacing must be
300mm except at the bottom where spacing is reduced
to 280mm.

RENOVATING A ROOF OF CORRUGATED SHEET

LCP LYCORTILE® can be laid on the existing roof sheeting
if these sheets are in good condition and capable of
taking the weight of the metal tile roof. It is advisable
to check that the corrugated sheets are sufficiently
watertight to act as an underlay and that the purlins
under the sheets are sound enough to support and take
fixings of counter battens*. The counter battens* are laid
narrow edge down from ridge to eaves and at maximum
1.20m centers. These battens* are fixed down using
screws. If the existing roof sheets are old and brittle, it may
be necessary to bevel the lower edges of the counter
battens*.

Tiling battens* must be laid on top of the counter battens*

in the same way as for the new construction.

RENOVATING ROOFS OF CONCRETE OR CLAY TILES

Remove the old tiles. Replace counter battens* and tiling batten* if these are in poor condition. If it is desirable that
the existing battens* are to be re-used, it may be necessary to remove and re-position some of these battens* to
comply with the spacing as described in the earlier “Renovation/New Construction on Timber Boarding, Plywood
or Panel” section.

*: For steel battens, Please contact LCP Building Products Pte. Ltd., Technical Department.

INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
ROOF SHEET LAYING GABLE FIXING
Ridge Fold up the sheet at the left-hand gable if necessary.
Fix with self-drilling screw at approximately 300mm
centre.

Eaves

Fix the sheets in rows from the eaves to the ridge.

Always place the first sheet at the bottom right-hand
corner. It is vital to fix them perpendicular to the eaves.
As the sheets are profiled both in width and height, it is
difficult to compensate for an angular error. RIDGE FIXING
Proceed as follows:

N.B. The bottom corners of the unit

must be on the line of the eaves.
Before fixing the ridge piece, fit the above filler and
gable trim.
FIXING
The sheets must be fixed
at the crest using self-
drilling screws and sealing
washers. For steel batten:
12mm × 68mm hex head,
and for timber: 12mm ×
65mm hex head.

FIXING PLAN
Side Overlaps

Insert the screws in the fixing plan. The screws marked

with a larger filled circle (in the side overlap) are fixed
first. Insert screws at the crest of every third and fifth
corrugations and crest of every second tile row. At the
side overlap insert a screw at the crest of every tile
row. At the end overlap, insert screws at the crest of
every corrugation (not shown in fixing plan).
