Dust pan
OBJECTIVE
MATERIALS
1 piece 1 x 2 x 28 wood
Tin-snip – for cutting tin sheets of metal with gauge 18 and higher.
Riveter – a metal pin passing through holes in wood to hold them together
intact along with the metal.
Drill bit – 1/8 of an inch drill bit, varies in different diameters according to
need. It is also the reason how a drill press can deliver a hole.
PROCEDURE:
QUESTIONS:
3. Is there a need of flaring out the front side of the dust pan?
- Absolutely! Because flaring the front side of the dust pan will make
the collection of the dirt easier because of its shape which prevents the
dirt from settling in the bottom of the dust pan.
4. To avoid breaking out the wood edge while riveting, what is the
best thing to do?
- The best approach is to find the midpoint of the square where the
rivets are desired to go, after which the riveter will have to separate
the two rivets from each other, so the crack it will produce will not
meet together, thus the breakdown of the wood itself.
6. How many 12 inches by 12 inches G.I. sheet you can cut out of
4 feet by 8 feet standar G.I. sheet?
- 32 G.I Sheets [(8)*(4) (feet) = 32]
The first project to be done was a dust pan. We got the right instruments
and a G.I. project sheet. First of all, we were asked to trace the pattern we
were given in the G.I. sheet. We then used tin snip to cut all the unnecessary
components and then instructed how to manage the bender we used to bend
the G.I. sheet. We also had to create a wooden handle in which to remove the
edges we used a smoothing plane and a flat file. The saw a certain depth at
the bottom of the handle and attached the G.I. Bending the sheet and then
drilling and riveting the holes found at the bottom and drilling another hole
near the top to hang the powder pan.
The team were able to make outside and inside caliper after this shop
practice using a flat bar and lab tools and equipment. Workers have been able
to get to know the popular instruments used in the metal store. The employees
were allowed to investigate various methods to use ball-peen hammer to bend
a flat bar. To be able to achieve the full potential of the project, you must first
trace the template to the tin metal sheet, and cut using Tin snip, after which
when cut, is ready to be folded by the bender machine, once bended, we can
now finally apply the handle, put three holes, two in the near base, and one
in the tip of the handle.
