Esta actividad de pre saberes es de manera individual y no colaborativa tiene como

fin de enfocar, indicadores ambientales con una gran expectativa en el manejo y
redacción de inglés.

1. ¿Cuáles son los objetivos de los indicadores ambientales?

Promover una cultura ambiental al interior de la Corporación que permita una mejora
continua del Sistema de Gestión Ambiental. Prevenir la contaminación del aire, agua
y suelo y la disminución de los recursos naturales, por medio de programas
ambientales.

What are the objectives of the environmental indicators?

Promote an environmental culture within the Corporation that allows a continuous

improvement of the Environmental Management System. Prevent pollution of air,
water and soil and the reduction of natural resources, through environmental
programs.

2. ¿Cuál es la importancia de los indicadores ambientales?

En el contexto actual del país, de complejidad e interrelaciones, se destaca la

necesidad e importancia de contar con indicadores ambientales; que muestra la
situación ambiental del país y su vinculación con los aspectos económicos, sociales
e institucionales. El medio ambiente del país, hoy exige una aplicación cada vez
más eficiente y eficaz de la información ambiental.

Los indicadores ambientales permiten describir y analizar un aspecto significativo

del estado del ambiente, la sustentabilidad de los recursos naturales y su relación
con las actividades humanas; presenta información científicamente sustentada
sobre las condiciones y tendencias ambientales.
What is the importance of environmental indicators?

In the current context of the country, of complexity and interrelations, the need and
importance of having environmental indicators is highlighted; which shows the
environmental situation of the country and its link with economic, social and
institutional aspects. The country's environment today demands an increasingly
efficient and effective application of environmental information.

Environmental indicators allow describing and analyzing a significant aspect of the

state of the environment, the sustainability of natural resources and their relationship
with human activities; presents scientifically supported information on environmental
conditions and trends.

3. ¿Cómo utilizar los indicadores ambientales en el campo profesional?

La capacidad de identificar de manera adecuada los indicadores del entorno es

fundamental para tomar mejores decisiones; una elección incorrecta de la
información o una pobre compresión de lo que significa el indicador puede llevarnos
a interpretaciones y acciones equivocadas. Por ello, es importante enfatizar que un
indicador es una herramienta y no un fin mismo. Los indicadores se emplean en
todos los ámbitos del quehacer humano; aunque éstos varían en su grado de
complejidad y relación con el fenómeno al que se refieren; desde sencillos, como el
color de una fruta que sirve para evaluar su grado de madurez, hasta más
sofisticados, como la concentración de agentes inmunológicos para detectar cáncer.

How to use environmental indicators in the professional field?

The ability to properly identify environmental indicators is essential to make better

decisions; An incorrect choice of information or a poor understanding of what the
indicator means can lead to misinterpretations and actions. Therefore, it is important
to emphasize that an indicator is a tool and not an end itself. The indicators are used
in all areas of human activity; although these vary in their degree of complexity and
relation with the phenomenon to which they refer; from simple, such as the color of
a fruit that serves to assess its maturity, to more sophisticated, such as the
concentration of immunological agents to detect cancer.
