DepEd Division of Misamis Oriental through the Planning and Research Section and the Schools Division Research Committee (SDRC) will hold the 2019 Division Research Congress on October 17-18, 2019 at a venue to be set. 2. In view of the aforementioned, a simultaneous district level research conference shall be conducted on October 11, 2019 for the selection of the best papers in the districts. 3. __ Adjudged first place winners of the different themes and areas in the districts shall be the official entries to the 2019 Division Research Congress. Each district is expected to send fourteen (14) entries (theme 1-9 entries, Senior High School-1 entry, theme 2-1 entry, theme 3-1 entry, theme 4-1 entry and Cl-1 entry) the congress. 4. _ An Official Registration Form shall be accomplished by the District Research Coordinator certified by the PS District Supervisor shall be submitted on October 14, 2019 along with the hard copies of the full manuscript of the research study (in 3 sets) to the Planning and Research Section. Attention: Lindo M. Cayadong, Senior Education Program Specialist. Submitted papers to the 2019 Division Research Congress should contain duly signed approval sheets. 5. This congress will be highlighted by oral and poster research presentations of the utilized findings of the study from the district winners of the following themes: ‘Theme 1: Teaching and Learning with Senior High School; Theme 2: Child Protection; 1 Velez Del Pl Sts, Cagayan de Oro Gy 5000 Wil (086)8568524 09378992245 @Pienrwlepedmisor net misamisorental@deped govieh Bf apedmisamisocental Theme 3: Human Resource Development; Theme 4: Governance; Continuous Improvement. 6. Participants of this activity are the districts’ teacher-researchers, school head- researchers and teaching-related and non-teaching personnel who emerged as winners during the district level research conference, members of the Schools Division Research Committee (SDRC), units and sections heads, education program supervisors, District Research Coordinators, Education Program Supervisors and PS District Supervisors/Districts in-charge (which will be announced in a separate memorandum). 7. A total of fourteen (14) entries per district shall be submitted to the Schools Division Research Committee (SDRC) on October 14, 2019 observing the color coding under the following categories as indicated below: 7.1 Theme 1: Teaching and Learning (Green folder) - 1 for English - 1 for Mathematics - 1 for Science - 1 for Filipino - 1 for Araling Pantipunan - 1 for MAPEH - 1 for Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (EsP) - 1 for TLE/TVL - 1 for Inclusive Education (ALS or SPED or ALIVE or IPEd or ADM) - 1 for MTB-MLE - 1 for Senior High School (SHS) 7.2 Theme 2: Child Protection (Yellow folder) 7.3 Theme 3: Human Resource Development (Blue folder) 7.4 Theme 4: Governance (Red folder) Cross-cutting themes such as Career Guidance, Disaster Rick Reduction Management (DRRM), Gender and Development (GAD) 8. Cayadong aaa) 8. _ Each sheet of papers to be submitted has to use/observe the layout including font size and style and spacing to be prescribed in a separate memorandum. 9, The following time frame for oral presentation shall be observed: 5 to 8 minutes for oral presentation 3 minutes per panel reactor 10. The panel of reactors shall give recommendations on how the research findings can be replicated or utilized for policy directions, enhancement of existing programs and policy formulation for innovative educational reforms. 11. The full version of the action research project should not exceed 4,000 words while basic research should not exceed 6,000 words. 12. Entries in both oral and poster presentations shall be submitted in three (3) hard copies on the abovementioned date, properly labelled using the Research Proforma (Attachment No. 7), duly endorsed by the PS District Supervisor shall be considered in the congress. 3. Research papers under Basic Education Research Fund (BERF) shall also be considered for the presentation. 4. A total of 672 research entries shall be made available for the presentation. 5. Screening in the district level shall be done strictly using these criteria: A. Presenters are advised to use a 48” x 36” vertical poster layout which includes the abstract, content, and layout of the poster. 8. The following time frame for oral presentation shall be strictly observed: > 5-8 minutes for oral presentation > 3 minutes per panel reactor 9. To enforce strict observance of the time, color coding scheme should be followed: > Green light - _Start of the Presentation > Yellow light - 5 minutes (warning) > Redlight - 8 minutes (stop) 10. Rationale (10%) ‘The nature, extent and salience of the research topic are comprehensively discussed. Different aspects of the research setting are elaborated showing in depth and critical analysis of the situation. Policy implications, benefits, and limitations of the study are stated. B. Research Questions (20%) ‘The research questions logically proceed from the context of the study. They are formulated to clearly show the extent and different angles of inquiry (ex: different variables of interest, relationships to be probed, geographical and temporal scope). C. Related Literature (10%) Viewpoints and issues underlying the present research are discussed and synthesized. They are critically evaluated to identify inconsistencies or gaps in current knowledge or educational policy that the study intends to address. Constructs are defined and presented in a conceptual framework. Citation of literature sources is consistent. D. Research Methods (25%) Details are provided about the target participants and/or other sources of data and information. Clear rationale for their inclusion in the study is given. Explains why the data gathering methods are suited to the nature and purpose of the study. The data gathering methods are aligned with the research questions. Details about research instruments are presented such as their appropriateness for obtaining the desired kind of data/information. ‘The selected methods of data analysis are shown to be appropriate to the nature of the data/information to be gathered and for addressing the research questions. E. Discussion of Results and Recommendations (15%) ‘The tables and figures are appropriately used. Textual discussion is clear and concise. There is a summary of the major findings and discussed their significance. Analysis of data relationships is logical and perceptive. Statistical analysis is accurately interpreted. Implications of the study are presented through clear and worthwhile recommendation. Research flaws, shortcomings and other plausible reasons for results of the study are explained. There are implications of the results for policy and/or practice. There are suggestions for further research. F, Utilization (10%) ‘The overalll plan reflects the proponent’s capacity to concretize ideas into clear and sequential steps to be undertaken for making the research worthwhile. Disseminate results and statement of encouragement for analysis, considerations, and incorporation of results in schools’/divisions’ practices. G. Attract attention and convey information. Photographs, drawings, charts, tables, or graphs are simple, well-organized, and carefully chosen to quickly explain complicated technical concepts to a wide audience. Balance of text, figures, and space is evident. B. Content/Input /Significance (40%) Methods are clearly outlined which are appropriate and original with enough explanation. Results are clearly presented. Thoughts and ideas flow in a logical manner. ©. Delivery (20%) Color and font changes are used appropriately. All text is large enough to be read from a distance of 4 to 6 feet and easy to read. High contrast between the text and background is observed. Presentation shall last for 5-8 minutes with 6 minutes for open forum. 2. The copy of the Powerpoint presentation should be given to the Secretariat by 7:00 o'clock in the morning on the day of the congress. 3. The presenter may distribute handouts/brochures in electronic and/or hard copies to interested participants. 4. Schedules, changes thereto and venue of presentations shall only be made by the Congress Secretariat. Poster Presentation: 1. Presenter is advised to use vertical (portrait) layout at 48 x 36 - inch size. It shall be displayed in a designated area a day of the congress 2. Poster should also include the Abstract, Introduction, Research Questions, Research Design, Results and Discussions, Conclusions and References. 3. Suggested font sizes: Title, 80-90 points; Authors, 50-60 points; Affiliation, 45-65 points; Headings, 40-50 points; Text, 30-40 points.
