I, Aldren Aniñon, a BS Mechanical Engineering a student from Cebu Technological University -Main

Campus has successfully completed the required four hundred (400) hours on-the job training in
Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Inc. (TCPI), South Poblacion, San fernado , Cebu , Philippines that has
started on August 4, 2019 and ended on August 16, 2019

On-the-job training is part of college curriculum that aims train and orient students about their work
and future career. For more than two months staying in Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Inc. as an On-the-
job trainee at first I was nervous because I thought that employees would be strict on us but as days
pass on I realized that the employees are friendly and approachable. Our supervisors/field instructors
toured us in many areas and I found it exciting and challenging because I can gain more knowledge and I
can machines that I've never seen before and I considered it as an achievement .The employees in
company don't treat us not only as an OJT trainee but considered us part of their family.

There are many things I've learned in when entered TCPI . I've learned the process on how I'mcement is
made . First the limestone is quarried from quarry site and deliver it to hopper (1A01) with grizzly that
has a 500 mm gap then the stamler/apron feeder (1A02) will convey the limestone going to
wobblers/undersizer (1A03,1A04) which will separate the fine particles and drop to a belt conveyor
(1A21) below . The bigger limestone that are not drop will be conveyed by the wobblers to the crusher
(1A05) and will be grind from 500 mm to 50 which will also conveyed by a belt conveyor (1A21) to
damper (1A22) which the operator will choose if it will be drop in limestone silo (1A24), limestone bin
(1A26) or limestone tent (1A30). After crushing the limestone (75%)it will be mixed by the other three
raw meal components namely clay (18%), silica sand (5%) and iron concentrate (2%) and the mixture will
be conveyed by a belt conveyor (1C11) to the IHM impact hammer mill (1C82) that will grind the mixture
to smaller particles . The grind mixture will be vacuumed by mill fan and will go to classifier (1C83), the
coarser particles will go to bin then roller press (1C96) and the will be cake and will conveyed to the tube
mill (1C27) and if the bin is full the coarse material will go back to the IHM. The fine material will be
conveyed by airslide to raw meal silo (1D00). From the raw meal silo the raw meal will be feed to
preheater which has east and west side using bucket elavator. The material will first enter from
preheated cyclone one (1H31,1H31A,1H32)west (1H11,1H11A,1H12) east then two (1H35)west (1H15)
east then three (1H37) west (1H17) east and last four (1H39)west (1H19) east which will preheat the
material. After the material is preheated it will be fed in the kiln which will heated up to 1400 degrees
and become clinker . The clinker will be transported to clinker silo. From the clinker silo, the clicker will
transported using dump trucks to the shed in finish mill area. In the finish mill area they produces four
types cement namely , portland (no pozzolan additive), premium , pozzolan and masonry cement. The
clicker will be mixed to gypsum and additive namely , limestone, BFS (slag), pozzolan and fly ash. In the
finish mill there are 8 ball Mills in which 6k,7k, and 8k are independent ball mills. In the process of
cement grinding the mixture of materials will be fed in the ball mill . The pulverized mixture will be
vacuum by the mill fan to the separator in which the coarser materials will be separated and will go back
to the ball mill while the fine material will be suck by cyclone the collected material from the cyclone will
be conveyed using airslide going to the silo. The gas with fine particles of materials will go to the bag
house that will collect very fine materials and will be conveyed using air slide going to the cement silo
and ready for packing in the pack house .
