Alvira, J. R. (0AD). teoría : Music Theory Web.

Retrieved September 26, 2019, from

https://www.teoria.com/.

Teoria is a music theory website that provides tutorials, articles, references, and exercises

to help users better understand music theory in itself. This could be used for people who

are just starting out in music theory, or for those who are struggling and could use extra

help. I think this is useful because it provides a multitude of ways to describe and teach a

certain concept or subject. It is also useful in the sense that it provides regularly updated

articles and tutorials so that the information is not out of date.

from https://apps.apple.com/us/app/music-tutor-sight-reading/id514363426.

Music Tutor is an app, available on Google Play and iTunes, that is intended to help

improve the sight-singing skills of the user. This app allows the user to use solfege,

different keys, and western notation to help the user practice sight-singing. I think this

app can be used for musicians at any level, and I believe that it is useful in the sense that

the user is able to use different forms of notation in order to challenge themselves. It is

also useful in the sense that the app uses tests and provides explanations as to what to

user can improve in between each test.

Burnam, E.-M. (2008). A dozen a day. Florence,KY: Willis Music Company.

A Dozen A Day by Edna Mae Burnam is a beginner’s piano teaching book that provides

finger placements, chords, concepts, and practice examples in order to help the reader

effectively learn how to play piano. This book is used mostly for beginning piano players,

but can also be used by professional pianists in order to recover basic technique, or to

teach piano themselves. I think that this book is very useful because it shows all of the

different finger placements as well as provides examples for the player to practice with.

This isn’t helpful in the sense that if a player is practicing the examples incorrectly, it

isn’t able to show the player that they are doing so.

Edwards, T. (0AD). Violin Lab. Retrieved September 26, 2019, from

http://www.violinlab.com/Community/.

Violin Lab is a website designed for violin players of all skill levels to learn new

techniques and to provide individual lessons for players based on their personal skill

level. I think that this website is very useful because it does provide lesson plans and

videos for technique for different skill levels from beginning to master. However, this is

not useful in the sense that if technique is performed incorrectly, the website itself isn’t

able to correct the player.

Groove Pizza. (0AD). Retrieved September 26, 2019, from

https://apps.musedlab.org/groovepizza/.

Groove Pizza is a website that, originally used to help math students, provides a fun and

new way for the user to explore different drum beats, styles, and pitches in order to create
music without using western notation. This website can be used by musicians at any skill

set. This website is useful because it gives the user freedom to just explore the software

without restraining them to a certain notation.

Learn Guitar, Piano, Ukulele With The Songs you Love. (0AD). Retrieved September 26,

2019, from https://yousician.com/.

Yousician is a website as well as an app that allows users to learn either guitar, bass,

piano, ukulele, and voice. By using video tutorials the user is able to learn how to play

the instrument at their own pace. This software is used for musicians of all skill sets,

beginner to professional. It is useful in the sense that it provides lessons specifically for

the needs of the user.

Learn Guitar. Fast. The Uberchord App - Chords, Strumming, Songs. (0AD). Retrieved

September 26, 2019, from https://www.uberchord.com/.

Uberchord is an app used to help teach guitar chords, strummings, songs, and techniques

to beginning guitar players. I feel that it is useful in the sense that it provides different

ways to teach the user, but isn’t useful in the sense that it isn’t able to correct the user if

the user performs with incorrect technique.

Skinner, M. (0AD). Guy B. Brown Music. Retrieved September 26, 2019, from

https://guybbrownmusic.weebly.com/instrument-fingering-charts1.html.
Guy B. Brown Music is a website that provides fingering charts for all different musical

instruments. This website can be used by all musicians, no matter their skill level. This is

useful because it provides all of the charts, but isn’t useful because it doesn’t describe

how each fingering works.
