Activity 1. Warm up

Aim: greeting the students, catching their attention, creating the proper atmosphere

Procedure Interaction Timing


T. greets the Ss. Ss stand up, respond, sit down T-Ss 2’
T. asks: “How are you today”? Ss respond

Activity 2: Lead-in

Aim: to introduce the topic

Procedure Interaction Timing


-T. introduces the topic of the new lesson: Wild things T-Ss 10’
-T.and students talk about different types of animals, then stop atwild animals and where Ss
they can be seen (eg. Zoo, forest)
-Ss make a list of wild animals and write their names on the board and in their notebooks
-T shows Ss pictures of wild animals and they talk about them using the present continuous:
“What is the monkey doing?”
“It is climbing the tree.”

“Is the bear swimming?”


“No, the bear isn’t swimming. It is eating leaves”

Activity 3

Aim: To encourage reading and writing

Procedure Interaction Timing


-T asks Ss to read some short descriptions of wild animals on the screen, then to try and T-Ss 10’
guess the wild animal the text is talking about, then to try and write one similar text. The S
reads the text and the others try and guess the animal. (ex. 5/29)
Activity 4

Aim: To further practice the present continuous and the wild animals

-T asks Ss to work in pairs. They look at the pictures in exercise 3/29 and find the T-Ss 10’
differences, then write sentences as in the example. Ss write the sentences on the board. Ss

Activity 5

Aim: To make students work in groups

Procedure Interaction Timing


Ss receive some pictures of wild animals and some words describing them. They stick the T-Ss 10’
right words next to each animal, then they read the result to the class. Ss-Ss

Activity 6

Aim: To practice listening and singing

Procedure Interaction Timing


Ss are invited to listen to a short song about wild animals, then to listen again while trying T-Ss 8’
to sing. Ss
