JOB DESCRIPTION

DESIGNATION : Deputy Manager (Projects)


REPORTING TO : Head – Projects (Location)
At present to Head – Proj & Process Engg.

1. To interact closely with P & A department for carrying out formalities


related to The Contract Labour Act related to employment of contract
labour directly or through various suppliers , fabricators etc.

2. To assist Head – Projects in short listing Architects, Structural Engineers,


Consultants, Fabricators, other project contractors, and execute the projects
on time and within budget.

3. To prepare pert chart for project implementation, and work out cost
estimates.

4. To prepare or outsource preparation of basic / detailed engineering /


layout drawings, as the case may be.

5. To short list the suppliers of equipments and prepare a comparison chart


of their specifications and cost analysis for decision making.

6. To report project activity to Projects Head and keep user department


posted on the progress of the project activity.

7. To ensure installation of equipments and commissioning of equipments


are carried out as per good engineering practices, G.M.P., have good
aesthetic value and handover of facility to the user department is done as
per the handover procedure.

8. To ensure that contractors strictly adhere to system and procedures laid


down by E.H.S. and P & A departments.

9. To ensure that work permits are approved from safety department prior to
start up.

10. To verify contractor’s bills submitted for payment.

11. To provide details of capital purchases to finance for preparation of Asset


register.

12. To handover and ensure that the following are taken care of :-

a. P&I and layout drawings.


b. Operating and maintenance manual.
c. Highlighting critical points.
d. Spares list.
e. Completion by insulation, piping, civil, electrical, erection, HVAC
contractors as per specifications given.
f. Release by safety department for use till SHE matters remain from
project obligations
g. Any other matters pending as per SOP for Project hand over.

13. To ensure maintenance of record of Books, Files, Registers, Floppies, etc.


depending upon usage. List of such filing / records shall be prepared in
order of convenient identification.

14. To ensure strict adherence towards Technology Security Systems


developed to control leakage of confidential information

15. As Deputy Manager - Projects, carry out such jobs and other connected or
incidental jobs, which are necessary due to exigencies of companies work
and business requirements. Also to carry out such jobs those are within
capabilities and / or work in any other post that may be temporarily
assigned.
