ANTIVIRUS- (of software) designed to detect and destroy computer viruses.

THERMAL COMPOUND- Thermal grease, also called thermal paste or thermal compound, is a substance
used to promote better heat conduction between two surfaces and is commonly used between a
microprocessor and a heatsink . The top surface of most microprocessors is not perfectly flat.

CROSSFIREx- AMD CrossFire (also known as CrossFireX) is a brand name for the multi-GPU technology by
Advanced Micro Devices, originally developed by ATI Technologies. The technology allows up to four
GPUs to be used in a single computer to improve graphics performance.

CAPTIVE PORTAL- A captive portal is a Web page that the user of a public-access network is obliged to
view and interact with before access is granted. Captive portals are typically used by business centers,
airports, hotel lobbies, coffee shops, and other venues that offer free Wi-Fi hot spots for Internet users.

SDK- A software development kit (SDK or devkit) is typically a set of software development tools that
allows the creation of applications for a certain software package, software framework, hardware
platform, computer system, video game console, operating system, or similar development platform.
OSI(LAYER)- The purpose of the OSI reference model is to guide vendors and developers so the digital
communication products and software programs they create can interoperate, and to facilitate a clear
framework that describes the functions of a networking or telecommunication system.

IPV4- Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) is the fourth revision of the Internet Protocol and a widely used
protocol in data communication over different kinds of networks. IPv4 is a connectionless protocol used
in packet-switched layer networks, such as Ethernet.

1PV6- Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) is a network layer protocol which allows communication and
data transfers to take place over the network. IPv6 came into existence in 1998 with the sole purpose to
take over and replace IPv4 protocol one day

OOP- Object-oriented programming (OOP) is a way of writing computer programs using the idea of
"objects" to represent data and methods. Usually, computer programs were just a list of instructions to
the computer, telling the computer to do certain things in a certain way, which is called procedural
programming.

ABSTRACTION- Abstraction (from the Latin abs, meaning away from and trahere , meaning to draw) is
the process of taking away or removing characteristics from something in order to reduce it to a set of
essential characteristics. ... Abstraction is related to both encapsulation and data hiding.

ENCAPSULATION- Encapsulation in Java is a mechanism of wrapping the data (variables) and code acting
on the data (methods) together as a single unit. ... Declare the variables of a class as private. Provide
public setter and getter methods to modify and view the variables values.
INHERITANCE- Inheritance is a mechanism wherein a new class is derived from an existing class. In Java,
classes may inherit or acquire the properties and methods of other classes. A class derived from another
class is called a subclass, whereas the class from which a subclass is derived is called a superclass
POLYMORPHISM- The word polymorphism means having many forms. Typically, polymorphism occurs
when there is a hierarchy of classes and they are related by inheritance. C++ polymorphism means that a
call to a member function will cause a different function to be executed depending on the type of object
that invokes the function.
FORM FACTOR- a mathematical factor that compensates for irregularity in the shape of an object,
usually the ratio between its volume and that of a regular object of the same breadth and height.

FULL TOWER CASE- Full-size tower cases are typically larger in volume than desktop cases, with more
room for drive bays, expansion slots, and custom or all-in-one (AIO) water cooling solutions.
Desktop cases—and mini-tower cases under about 46 cm (18 in) high—are popular in business
environments where space is at a premium

MID TOWER- A mid tower case is smaller than a full tower case. But you don't really need a full tower
case unless you are building a high end machine with a lot of components or liquid cooling. A mid tower
case will support itx, mATX, and ATX mother boards.

MINI TOWER- a small vertical case for a computer, or a computer mounted in such a case.

SLIM LINE CASE- A slimline model is a small desktop computer that is thinner than most
desktop computers. The illustration is an example of a slimline case

SMALL FORM FACTOR- In electronics or electrical the form factor of an alternating current waveform
(signal) is the ratio of the RMS (root mean square) value to the average value (mathematical mean of
absolute values of all points on the waveform). ... The former can also be defined as the direct current
that will produce equivalent heat.

COMPUTER CASE AIRFLOW- To properly air cool your computer, you need have enough case fans to
push or pull air into and out of the case. More case fans means higher total CFM and more air being
moved through your computer.

VOLATILE MEMOR- Volatile memory is a type of storage whose contents are erased when the system's
power is turned off or interrupted. For example, RAM is volatile.

NON VOLATILE- (of a computer's memory) retaining data even if there is a break in the power supply.

BANDWIDTH- Bandwidth. Bandwidth describes the maximum data transfer rate of a network or Internet
connection. It measures how much data can be sent over a specific connection in a given amount of
time. For example, a gigabit Ethernet connection has a bandwidth of 1,000 Mbps, (125 megabytes per
second).

BIT- Short for binary digit, the smallest unit of information on a machine. ... For example, a byteis
composed of 8 consecutive bits. Computers are sometimes classified by the number of bits they can
process at one time or by the number of bits they use to represent addresses.
BYTE- A byte is a term used to represent eight bits of data. One byte can hold about one letter, one
number, or one special character.
COMPRESSION- the reduction in volume (causing an increase in pressure) of the fuel mixture in
aninternalcombustion engine before ignition.

HDMI- HDMI. Stands for "High-Definition Multimedia Interface." HDMI is a trademark and brand name
for a digital interface used to transmit audio and video data in a single cable

DISPLAY PORT- Both HDMI and DisplayPort support up to 8 digital audio channels at up to 24 bit and 192
kHz. The main difference is that HDMI features an audio return channel (ARC).

BUG- A software bug is an error, flaw, failure or fault in a computer program or system that causes it to
produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways.
DEADLOCK- This can lead to a situation called deadlock. A set of processes or threads
is deadlocked when each process or thread is waiting for a resource to be freed which is controlled by
another process. Here is an example of a situation where deadlock can occur. ... Traffic gridlock is an
everyday example of a deadlock situation.
PARTITION- A partition is a logical division of a hard disk that is treated as a separate unit by operating
systems (OSes) and file systems. ... This allows the drive to operate as several smaller sections to
improve efficiency, although it reduces usable space on the hard disk because of additional overhead
from multiple OSes

ADWARE- software that automatically displays or downloads advertising material (often unwanted)
when a user is online.

MALWARE- software that is specifically designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to a
computer system.
