Activities Activity 1 (7 minutes)


 Teach melody of “I Don’t Care If The Rain Comes Down” by rote

Activity 2 (10 minutes)


1. Discuss melodic direction, steps and skips

Activity 3 (20 minutes)


 Add instruments to melody
1. First sing melody with students while at the piano
2. Next sing melody while students are at xylophones
3. Add drums (if time)

Informal:
 Observing students’ ability to sing the melody and/or play the ostinato xylophone pattern
Whole Class:
 Class effort to play the ostinato xylophone pattern while singing the melody of “I Don’t Care If
The Rain Comes Down”
Individual:
 Observing individual students as they play the ostinato pattern while singing the melody
