Castrol Perfecto XPG 32
High Performance Turbine Lubricant
Description
Castrol Perfecto XPG 32 high performance gas turbine lubricant is based on leading edge base oil
and additive technology, taking excellence in lubrication and plant protection to a new level.
Castrol XPG 32 turbine oil is formulated using special highly refined base oil coupled with the latest in
antioxidant technology resulting in a lubricant which offers a high degree of oxidation resistance even
under arduous service conditions of high operating temperatures and intermittent running or “peaking”
duty, providing superior reliability in operation and long service life.
Well proven in a wide range of applications with over 800,000 hours of field operational experience,
Castrol Perfecto XPG 32 has demonstrated superior performance and extreme resistance to the
formation of insoluble degradation products which result in sludge build-up in tanks and pipe work and
lacquer or varnish on bearings and hydraulic control valve components. By minimising the formation
of such deposits Castrol Perfecto XPG 32 offers a valuable contribution to improvement in reliability
and availability and to optimisation of the plant.
Castrol Perfecto XPG 32 turbine oil incorporates anti-wear additives to provide enhanced load carrying
performance required for turbine systems which include the lubrication of load gearboxes.
Application
Castrol Perfecto XPG 32 is recommended for use in industrial gas turbines, and is particularly
beneficial in applications where lubrication and hydraulic control circuits share a common reservoir
and exceptionally low tendency to form insolubles, sludge and varnish, together with high oxidation
resistance and long service life are key requirements.
The excellent demulsification properties of Castrol Perfecto XPG 32 mean that it is equally suitable for
the lubrication of steam turbines and is the lubricant of choice for single-shaft applications where the
gas and steam turbines and the generator share a common oil supply.
Castrol Perfecto XPG 32 incorporates anti-wear additives to enhance load carrying performance which
is a requirement for applications involving load gearboxes.
Castrol Perfecto XPG 32 is fully compatible with nitrile, silicone and fluoropolymer seal materials.
• Optimised combination of unique base oils and selected antioxidant system assures very low
levels of total insolubles in service resulting in extremely low sludge and varnish forming tendency
over long service life.
• Superior resistance to oxidation and thermal degradation even under extreme conditions of
thermal stress.
• Advanced anti-wear additive system delivering high anti-wear/EP performance of FZG FLS 9
rating under A8.3/90 test conditions ensures optimum plant protection in geared turbine
applications.
• Excellent filterability minimises any possibility of additive removal even under ultra-fine filtration
conditions and arduous service environments including the presence of moisture.
• Equally suited to the lubrication of gas and steam turbines makes Castrol Perfecto XPG 32 the
lubricant of choice for combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power stations and for single shaft gas
and steam turbine applications
• Castrol Perfecto XPG 32 possesses superior air release performance, good resistance to foaming
and excellent water separation properties.
• Superior performance across the range of specification tests ensures Castrol Perfecto XPG 32
exceeds the latest requirements of major turbine manufacturers.
Typical Characteristics
*'Nitrogen blown' rotary pressure vessel oxidation test - a sample of the oil heated to 121°C is pre-conditioned
by bubbling with nitrogen, at the rate of 3 litres/hour for 48 hours. A standard rotary bomb test is then carried
out on the conditioned oil.
