Sustainable architecture is architecture that seeks to minimize the negative

environmental impact of buildings by efficiency and moderation in the use of materials,
energy, and development space and the ecosystem at large.

Here is an example of sustainable and non-sustainable architecture:

Sustainable Architecture:

THE CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

– A SHINING EXAMPLE IN MONTREAL

The Center for Sustainable Development was built to serve as a model for anyone
interested in learning more about environmentally conscious construction. Considered by
many to be the greenest building in Canada, it’s a must-see for students who are interested in
a sustainable architecture career.
The center offers free guided or self-guided tours and includes:

 A five-storey living wall that acts as a natural air filter

 Countertops that are made from recycled glass
 Geothermal heating and cooling systems
 Raised floor heating
It even features artwork on display that’s made from 100% organic materials
Non-Sustainable Architecture:

AGUSTIN JEREZA HALL

- A TREMENDOUS FAILURE OF DESIGN
