1. Introduction

This guide provides a full explanation of the DynPro 4.0 Advance

Printing Tool (“APT”), which can be initiated either from DynPro 4.0 or
from Microsoft Excel (“Excel”). To start APT from DynPro 4.0, first, the
user needs to set up the “advance printing” option in the options.inf file
(C:\Dynpro\Config). Next, the user needs to click the “View Data/Reports”
button on the DynPro 4.0 front page. To start APT from Excel, the user
needs to open the DynPro 4.0 APT file (AdvancePrintingV001.xls).

Chapters 2 and 3 provide a description of each component on the main

configuration page and the multi-report page, which are the two major
configuration pages in the DynPro 4.0 APT. In Chapter 4, the process of
selecting, previewing and printing or graphing data is demonstrated.

2. Main Configuration Page

The main configuration page provides the following functionalities:

To select the channels and the order the channels displayed on the
report.
To choose what information displayed on the report.
To select and load a previously saved report configuration.
To append a data file.
To save a report configuration.

Once the DynPro 4.0 APT is started, the main configuration page shown
in Figure 1 appears.

The following is the description of each component on the main

configuration page.

When the view report button is clicked, the

:
DynPro 4.0 APT generates the reports and the graph corresponding to the
configuration on the main configuration page.

: This button is in an enable status only after the

“Load Data” button has been clicked and a data file has been loaded. When
this button is clicked, a dialog pops up and prompts the user to select a data
file. Once a correct data file name is provided, the DynPro 4.0 APT loads the
data file and adds “( * )” as the prefix to each channel name in the appended
data file. Here * means how many times the data files have been loaded. For
example, for a first appended data file, * is 2, for a second appended data
file, * is 3, and so on.

: When this button is clicked, the multi-report page

shows up.

When this button is clicked, a dialog pops up and

:
prompts the user to select a data file. Once the file name is provided, the
DynPro 4.0 APT loads the data file.

: When this button is clicked, a dialog pops up and

prompts the user to enter a file name. Once the file name is provided, the
DynPro 4.0 APT saves the current configuration on the main configuration
page into a configuration file.

:When this button is clicked, a dialog pops up and

prompts the user to select a configuration file. Once the configuration file
name is provided, the DynPro 4.0 APT loads the configuration from the file
to the main configuration page.

: When this button is clicked, the DynPro 4.0 APT

loads the configuration from the current configuration box value
(configuration file). Then, the DynPro 4.0 APT generates and print previews
the report and the graph corresponding to the selected configuration.

: This
option box is the first option box located on
the right upper corner of the main configuration page. It is used to display
the data files under the folder “c:\dynpro\data\”, the opened data files from
other folders, and the appended data files. When the down arrow on the right
side of this option box is clicked, the user can select one data file in this
option box to be loaded.

This option box is the second option box located

:
on the right upper corner of the main configuration page. It is used to display
the configuration (or template) files under the folder “c:\dynpro\report\” and
the opened configuration files from other folders. When the down arrow on
the right side of this box is clicked, the user can select one configuration file
in this box to be loaded.

Y channel name option box. It allows the user to

:
select a channel that appears on the Y axis. The user can click on the down
arrow on the right side of this option box to select a channel. There are a
total of 10 Y channel name option boxes on the main configuration page.

X channel name option box. It allows the user to

:
select a channel name that appears on the X axis. The user can click on the
down arrow on the right side of this option box to select a channel. There is
only one X channel name option box on the main configuration page.

: Precision option box.

• The current value in this option box provides the precision for the
corresponding channel data. The user can click on the down arrow on the
right side of this option box to select a precision value.

• There are total 11 precision option boxes: 10 for the Y channel, 1 for
the X channel on the main configuration page.

• Item list in this option box:

1000: means the data value is rounded up to the nearest integer in the
1000th decimal place. For example: if an original data value is
13452.5489, after enforcing this precision value the final data
value is 13000. If the original data value is less than 1000, after
enforcing this precision value the final data value is 0.

FEN1021.002 UNCONTROLLED WHEN PRINTED Page 8 of 40

TAYLOR DYNAMOMETER INC.

100: means the data value is rounded up to the nearest integer in the
100th decimal place. For example: if an original data value is
13452.5489, after enforcing this precision value the final data
value is 13500. If the original value is less than 100, after
enforcing this precision value the final data value is 0.
10: means the data value is rounded up to the nearest integer in the
10th decimal place. For example: if an original data value is
13452.5489, after enforcing this precision value the final data
value is 13450. If the original value is less than 10, after
enforcing this precision value the final data value is 0.
1: means the data value is rounded up to the nearest integer in the
one’s decimal place. For example: if an original data value is
13452.5489, after enforcing this precision value the final data
value is 13453. If the original value is less than 1, after
enforcing this precision value the final value is 0.
0.1: means the data value has one decimal digit after the decimal
point. For example: if an original data value is 13452.5489,
after enforcing this precision value the final data value is
13453.5.
0.01: means the data value has two decimal digits after the decimal
point. For example: if an original data value is 13452.5489,
after enforcing this precision value the final data value is
13453.55.
0.001: means the data value has three decimal digits after the decimal
point. For example: if an original data value is 13452.5489,
after enforcing this precision value the final data value is
13453.549.
Blank: if this option box is left blank, 0.01 is used as the precision for
the corresponding channel data.

: Scale option box

• The current value in this option box provides the scale for the
corresponding channel data. The user can click on the down arrow on
the right side of this option box to select a scale value.

FEN1021.002 UNCONTROLLED WHEN PRINTED Page 9 of 40

TAYLOR DYNAMOMETER INC.

• There are a total of 11 scale option boxes: 10 for the Y channel, 1 for
the X channel on the main configuration page.

• Item list in this option box:

1000: means the data value is multiplied by 1000. For example: if an
original data value is 13452.5489, after enforcing this scale
value the final data value is 13452548.9.
100: means the data value is multiplied by 100. For example: if an
original data value is 13452.5489, after enforcing this scale
value the final data value is 1345254.89.
10: means the data value is multiplied by 10. For example: if an
original data value is 13452.5489, after enforcing this scale
value the final data value is 1344525.489.
1: means the data value is multiplied by 1. For example: if an
original data value is 13452.5489, after enforcing this scale
value the final data value is 13452.5489.
0.1: means the data value is multiplied by 0.1. For example: if an
original data value is 13452.5489, after enforcing this scale
value the final data value is 1345.25489.
0.01: means the data value is multiplied by 0.01. For example: if an
original data value is 13452.5489, after enforcing this scale
value the final data value is 134.525489.
0.001: means the data value is multiplied by 0.001. For example: if an
original data value is 13452.5489, after enforcing this scale
value the final data value is 13.4525489.
Blank: if this option box is left blank, 1 is used as the scale for the
corresponding channel data.
