You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for

New York is a big city in the

United States (North
America). It takes thousand of
visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central Park,
the Metropolian museum and
Time’s Square. In the picture
you can see the Statue of
Liberty, a monumet built
between 1875 and 1986. It is
93 meters tall. The statue is

located on Liberty Island in
the Hudson River.

Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square
Rome is an Italian city of 2 877

the Lazio region and Italy. It is
the most populated municipality
in Italy and the fourth most
populated city in the European
Union.4 By antonomasia it is
also known as the end of
antiquity as the Urbe. It is also
called "The Eternal City" (in
Italian: Città Eterna).
St. Peter's Square (Piazza San
Pietro, in Italian) is an open
urban space that is located in
the Vatican City, within the city of
Rome, and precedes, as a large
períptera room, the Basilica of
San Pedro, the great temple of
Catholicism.
Australia (officially,
Commonwealth of Australia,
Commonwealth of Australia, AFI:
[kɒmənwelθ ɒv ɒstreɪliə] or
Australia, is a sovereign country
of Oceania, whose form of
government is the federal
parliamentary constitutional
monarchy.) The country
occupies the main continental

city in Scotland after Glasgow,
located on the east coast of
Scotland, on the banks of the
Firth of the River Forth and the
local unitary authority of the City
of Edinburgh, it is the capital of
Scotland since 1437 and the
seat of the Scottish government.
It was one of the most important
centers of education and culture
during the Enlightenment thanks
to the University of Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Castle is an old
fortress erected on a rock of
volcanic origin located in the
center of the city of Edinburgh. It
has been used for military
purposes since the twelfth
century, being used for civil
purposes only in very recent
times.
 Dubai is an Emirati city, capital
of the emirate of the same
name, one of the seven United
Arab Emirates. It has about 1500
km2 of area2 and is
geographically divided by the
Dubai Creek, resulting in two
visible regions: Deira, to the
north; and Bur Dubai, to the
south. It is the largest city and
the main port of the United Arab
Emirates (before the federal
capital Abu Dhabi). Located in
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj the Persian Gulf, it is the capital
Khalifa of the Emirate of Dubai, and has
more than one million
inhabitants and in its
metropolitan area exceeds 2.3
million.3 Until 2007, its
population was over 1.5 million.
