Grammatical Beginning Lead

1. Prepositional Phrase Lead:


 The book with the tattered cover has been read many times.
 All the passengers aboard the runaway train were frightened.
 The present inside the big box is mine.
 The extra blanket is in the box under the bed.
 Racing toward the finish line, Sarah realized she just might win.

2. Infinitive Phrase Lead:


 To meet the needs of the water ratio, MWSS decided to open the Angat Dam
 I want to eat pizza for dinner
 I told the dog to run home quickly

3. Participial Phrase Lead:


 Fond of brushing her hair, Kelly always had smooth and silky locks.
 The present participle of a verb expresses the action of a verb, specifically in the
present. It will always end in –ing, every single time.
 Meanwhile, the past participle of a verb is not always as easy to pick out. They
usually end in -ed, for regular past participles. But irregular past participles are out
there, ready to try and confuse you. Don’t let them, though, because you already use
most past participles without knowing that they’re called past participles!
