INTRODUCTION
Domain authentication over wireless will provide a faster way to login into domain, fast
and easy. We have in our Active Directory 140 Users and all computers are connected
to domain over wire. In the past was relative good because we had only desktops, but
now we have more than 35 laptops.

We are 3 workers in the IT – department, we have actually a lot to do, so I decided to

improve our network to save money and time. We need to create new working places
few times on a year. Few of our biggest common problems are:
• We don´t have enough RJ45 junction boxes
• Redactors and editors need more mobility, they meet and discuss about next
topics.
• Redactors from another town are coming once a week in main building to discuss
and we need to provide them access to the network.

PROJECT SCOPE
The scope of my project is giving access easier to our Active Directory because we
have in the future always more and more notebooks. With my project we will spend less
money on hardware because now all who are using notebooks, they have a desktop
computer also. This only because access thru Open VPN makes their connections
weaker.

COST MANAGEMENT PLAN
To calculate the costs will be easy because we have 90% of equipment already
installed. We had an old wireless infrastructure for our workers. Is a 4 levels office
building completely equipped with Access Points. My extra costs should not exceed
3000 €. After all calculation are done, I need to go to my Manager for approval.

I checked also the old invoices from our equipment and the company paid the following
hardware:
1. Router D-Link DWC – 1000 (1000 €)
2. 5 Access points DWL-6600AP (300 € / each = 1500 €).

The target of my project needs to reach following points:
 Improving our network
 More mobility
 Reduce wires from our offices
 Increase productivity
 Reduce the upcoming hardware costs

SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT PLAN

To succeed with a deadline, I need to plan my working hours and to make sure that I
am available for other coming problems too. Because we are only 3 workers in IT
department, I will give for my project just 1 hour per day.

My steps to be successful in this project are:

 Checking hardware and bring them to newest firmware versions.
 Checking if the signal is reaching the whole building
 Checking if the hardware can sustain our future connections.
 Implement the Wireless Network into our Server.
 Testing with more devices for stability at least 48 Hours.
 Starting to connect all users with laptops to our domain.

RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN

The worst situation will be when one more access points will not function anymore. That
is the reason why I bought one access point extra. Delivery time for a new hardware will
be within 2-3 working days, so I decided with my manager to take out that risk and buy
an extra access point and store it for an eventual replacing.

I checked the status of all our access points.

After that I wanted to see how many devices are connected and if wireless network has
enough capacity to sustain more users in the future.

Phase II
“Read and learn how to do it”
I have spent some hours to read on forums and chatting with Microsoft Support to learn
how to do it right.

 First step was to back-up and a making a Snap for server.

 Certificate installed on the server.
 Certificate installed on the domain computers.
 Enable wireless 802.1x authentication with Windows Server 2012
 Edit the policy to include wireless settings.
 Editing the roles in Windows Server.

Phase III

After we tested the system with 10 users connected, we can apply this to everyone.
With success we have applied to all Notebook users and until now, after testing seems
everything alright.
After my experience with a plan management project I can say that I am ready to do it
on a larger scale and I am not afraid to failure. It helps a lot when you need to do a
documentation and calculate everything, not only to have confidence, also to see
upcoming failure.
