If I were a boy is a literary piece which depicts a relatable topic


especially for those heartbroken ladies who loves to listen to this song. It gives
them the comfort that they are not the only one experiencing that heartbreak.
The song is an example of a timeless literary that everyone could relate to
despite of the years that this song has been released. It represents the human
nature of the women when they are being hurt by someone they treasured
the most.
Most women can relate to this song because they probably experiencing
this kind of situation wherein they are being left behind alone and destroyed
by their partners after being cheated. The song tells us on how a girl would
act and decide in their relationship if they were in the situation of the person
they loved. In the lyrics it says there that if the girl would be on that boy’s
shoe she would be a better man and will avoid the things that would hurt him
unlike what he did to her.
It emphasizes the human nature of the women to feel the anger and
despise towards a person because it is not right and unjust to hurt and take
someone for granted. It is natural for women to have those negative feelings
and it is also acceptable in terms of the pain they have felt from the person
who caused the pain. At the end of the song it stated there that a girl would
not let that guy to come back to her life after telling her that it was just a
mistake. It is innate to us human not to forget the things that gives us pain
but we could learn to forgive that particular person if we want to.

SYNTHESIS:
It is in our nature as a human to resent and despise a person every time
he/she did something that could cause us in pain.

“If I were a boy” was originally written by Brittany Jean Carlson and Toby Gad
in October 2008. They also handled its production alongside with Beyoncé.
The song was inspired by the difficult break up of a romantic relationship. If I
were a boy was initially recorded by Jean but unfortunately her recording
company rejected it then Beyoncé did her own version of this song. After
releasing her version for her album in 2008 it was recognized internationally
and became the best-selling single of hers.
Today, lyrical poem gives more impact to the readers since it illuminate every
emotions that the writer put to explicitly express his/her feeling through their
works. If I were a boy is an example of it as it emphasizes commentary on
the double standards that that often exist between men and women and a
story of role reversal. Through the lyrics of the song it analyzes the ideologies
of a tense relationship.
