I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of this lesson, the students or learners should be able to…

 Investigate the relationship between the amount of force applied and the mass of the
object to the amount of change in the object’s motion
 Differentiate the difference between Balanced and Unbalanced Forced
 Identify the forces acting on an object at rest.
 Participate actively in all the given class activities.

III. METHODOLOGIES
TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES

A. PREPARATION
“Good morning class!” “Good morning Ma’am”
“You may all take your seats.” (sits down)
“Please place your bags on top of the (bags are placed on the table)
table.”
“I will check the attendance and please say (says ‘present’ as their names are
‘present’ once your name is called.” called)
“So, how are you today?” “We’re fine ma’am!”
“Did you enjoy your weekend?” “Yes ma’am, we did!”
“That’s good to know!”

“You may remember that we have agreed

on several classroom rules.”
“Please remember that you should not
answer in chorus. If you want to answer a
question or ask a question, you may raise
your hand.”
“Avoid transferring from one seat to
another. For those at the back who cannot
see clearly, you may transfer here in front
now. Please do not drag your chairs.”
“Please listen and pay attention to the
discussion. Do not disturb others by
making unnecessary noise.”

“Are we all clear on that?” “Yes ma’am.”

“Okay, please settle down now and please

sit properly.” “Okay, ma’am.”
B. MOTIVATION
The teacher will place a ball on top of the
teacher’s table and ask…
 Will this object move by itself? No ma’am

 How can we make this object move?

Yes, King Ma’am if someone pushes the ball, it will
move or roll across the surface of the
Thank you, very good! table.

 How can we make the ball to

stop?
Jasmine? Ma’am, when the ball push it on the
other side, opposite to the direction of
Very well said, thank you! its motion, the ball may slow down
and eventually stop.
 Lastly, how can we make it Ma’am, when you push the ball in a

direction of motion, the ball also

today?

Yes, Arbicee?

Very well said, thank you!

C. PRESENTATION

“So can anybody guess what our lesson Ma’am, its all about, Force and
today is all about?” Motion

“Yes, that is correct!”

“We will be learning about, Force and

Motion today.”

D. DISCUSSION
“Can anybody give some of the details
(students raise their hands)
what force and motion is?”

Yes, Jillian!
Ma’am, a force can give energy to an
Thank you! object to start moving, stop moving, or
can change the direction of motion.
There are many forces on this earth.
Every object on this Earth experience
various forces and that is Friction force
and Gravitational force.

In Force and Motion, we also have

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces.

What is balanced Force?

Yes, Robin?
Ma’am, balanced force is several
forces may act upon an object.
Thank you!

For example, suppose a man is trying to Why Ma’am?

push the wall you notice that man and
wall will not move.

Its because man and wall applied equal

force on each other or we can say forces
are equal in magnitude. So they cancel
the effect of each other and net force is
zero. And both are not move that force
are called Balanced Force. Ma’am, so balanced forces do not
cause a change in motion. They are
Yes, exactly! equal in size and opposite in direction.

So now what is Unbalanced Forces?

Ma’am, when forces are in unequal
magnitude that the force act on objects
Beatriz!
that is unbalanced force.
Okay, Thank you!

(students respond)
E. GENERALIZATION
“Let’s watch a short video about
Balanced and Unbalanced Forces
For you to be able to understand them
more. (plays video)

“So now, we have come to differentiate

what Balanced and Unbalanced Forces
is? Now we have move on to our activity.

F. APPLICATION
“Forces on Object at rest”
Materials
Pen Pair of scissors
String Book

Procedure
Situation 1
 Hang a pen by a piece of string
Q1. Is the pen at rest or in motion?
Q2. Are there forces acting on the pen? If
yes, draw the forces. You will use arrows
to represent these forces.
 Cut the string with a pair of
scissors.
Q3. What happens to the pen? What
could have caused the pens motion?
Situation 2
 Place a book on the top of a table
Q4. Is a book at rest or in motion?
Q5. Are there forces acting on the book?
If yes, draw the forces acting on the
book?
 Let one member of your group push
the book in one direction and another
member push it in the opposite
direction at the same time with the
same amount of push(force).
Q6. Did the book move? How will you make
the book move?
IV. EVALUATION
 Ask students to write their reflections about the lesson, such as what they learned, what caused
them difficulty, or the strategies they found helpful in understanding the lesson. (5 min)

V. ASSIGNMENT

 How are two or more forces added or combined?

 In terms of magnitude of forces, when do we say that forces are balanced? Unbalanced?
