MindMap Assignment

(10 Points)

GOAL: You will be working individually to create a MindMap that demonstrates your
understanding of thermochemistry in the context of endothermic and exothermic reactions, as
pertaining to heat of enthalpy and energy diagrams. Show mastery of the connections between
terms, ideas, and symbols through a creative MindMap. Have fun!

Article to be used: https://www.khanacademy.org/test-prep/mcat/chemical-

processes/thermochemistry/a/endothermic-vs-exothermic-reactions
● Additional sources will be required to complete the real-life example section of the
graphic organizer, whether it’s the Chemistry textbook or an online resource (remember
to check its credibility before using it!).

1) Do a close reading on the article provided on this page. Be sure to note the headings
and the examples as you progress throughout the article.
2) Utilize MindMeister via https://www.mindmeister.com/. Sign up for a free account using
your school Gmail account. Please do not skip the tutorial as it will give you the tools
necessary to make your MindMap with ease!
3) Requirements:
a) Have the broadest topic in the middle “Thermochemistry” and become more specific
as you go away from the center.
b) Include all the headings of the article in your mind map (4 headings) connected to the
middle topic bubble and give at least two important details from each section.
c) Attach 2 real life examples of each reaction (endo/exo). One of the real-life examples
of each type may be the ones given in the text. (i.e. photosynthesis, cooking an egg,
combustion, condensing water)
d) Utilize at least two different colored arrows to connect ideas across that map that
you see within different headings. (use the bubble to another bubble arrow button on
the top bar)
e) Make a visually appealing and clean MindMap that is unique to you but also helpful
for others to learn from.
f) Include your name and period somewhere on the map (floating topic is
recommended. Right click and choose “add floating topic”)
