About the Programme


Induction Programme effectively integrates the new entrant into the
organization and assists with retention, motivation and job satisfaction. It quickly
enables each individual to become contributing members of the work force to
achieve organization goals/objectives. The organization is responsible for ensuring
that the employees are prepared to work before they actually start working.
Organization can make the transition easier by conducting a detailed induction
program. This lifts the burden from the employee of having to figure things out on his
own. It also sends a positive message to the employee about the organization’s
structure.

Programme Objectives
 The core focus of the programme is to make the employees aware of the
vision, mission and policies of the organization
 The programme helps them understand the rules and regulations for the
government employee along with the various benefits/ welfare measures
given by the government
 The new employees also learn about several matters which are essential in
the context of DRDO

Target Audience/Participants:
The Course is conducted for DRTC (STA B).

DRTC: DRTC stands for Defence and Research & Development Technical Cadre. It
is the largest cadre of DRDO comprising of approximately 12000 employees. The
cadre was created in August 1995 and consists of two categories:

 Category ‘A’: Technician- A, B, C; Technical Assistant – B; Technical Officer

 Category ‘B’: Senior Technical Assistant – B; Technical Officer A,B,C,D

DRTC cadre has the essential minimum qualification of ITI /Diploma for Category A
and Diploma/B.Sc. for Category B

Methodology:

The methodology used in this training programme is Classroom Learning


Method. An important advantage of class room training is that several methods of
learning can be used within the same programme to meet the diverse learning needs
of the learners. The important methods of classroom learning are lectures by
experts/ instructors, panel discussions either by group of experts or by a group of
learners, case method, guided group discussion among the learners, guided role
play by the learners, and guided in-basket exercises and case methods.

There are team building exercises, sports activities, practical in case of


computers, visits to labs and learning through excursions also.

Multimedia with interactive boards, audio visual tools, MS Power point
presentations

Duration
1 week /6 days

(The sessions as well as their duration given in the schedule may change at the time of final
execution)

Team Building Exercises (Evening Session)

A number of team building games and exercises are conducted to develop a team
spirit among the participants.

Team Building through Sports Activity (Evening Session)


The research work has to be performed in a team. The participants have to perform
a sports activity. They are allowed to choose their own leader form amongst their
group. The activity is after lunch and boosts the participants to learn together in a
team.

Computer Practical and Exercises (2 sessions)

A separate session is assigned for computer practical apart from the class room
learning of theories.

Action Learning Presentation Skills & Presenting Ideas (Evening Session)

On the first day of the Induction Programme, the participants are given a topic to
present after all the sessions are over. This exercise helps the participants to
overcome their fear, intermingle with the participants and understand how to present
their work. Participants also learn from each other and feedback is given after that,
for improving their presentation skills.

Evaluation and Discussion (1 Session)

Tests are conducted after the completion of course and results discussed

Group Dynamics through Local Visit (Post Lunch Session)

A short visit is arranged for the participants for excursion. During this, participants
interact with each other informally. They visit new places and learn how to behave in
a group.

Feedback and Valedictory Session (2 sessions)

On the last day, an open house is conducted where the participants are free to
discuss their experiences. Feedback is taken in the feedback forms and pen picture
is taken verbally during the valedictory session. Certificates are distributed during
this session for attending the training programme.
