INTRODUCTION

Google Fusion Tables is one, relatively user-friendly, avenue to take

shallow and deep sets of data and craft them in ways that are easy to read and
digest. It is a web service provided by Google for Data Management. Fusion
Tables is a good data processing tool for ambitious projects. This means that its
main use is in turning the data you have into something else. It's a level "up" from the
day-to-day tools for working with data, such as spreadsheet applications, which means
it needs more technical knowledge. It is designed for large datasets, some of which
might be so large that it would be difficult to work with them on your own desktop
computer.

Fusion Tables also integrates nicely with Google Docs. Google is shutting
down its Fusion Tables cloud service, a Google Drive option that offered an
easy way to create online visualizations, especially maps. Google announced
on July 8, 2019 that the service will end on Dec. 3, 2019, and "maps using the
Fusion Tables Layer in the Maps JavaScript API v3.37 will start to see errors in
August 2019."

BODY

Google Fusion Table is a cloud software as a service application that

enables the hosting, management, sharing and publishing of data online.
Google Fusion Tables provides data management services that can be
accessed directly over the Internet through a browser, programmatic access via
application programming interface and integration of existing tabular data.

Google Fusion Tables primarily enables the visualization of data stored

in tables in the form of graphical charts, maps, time lines and plots, with the
ability to publish, share and integrate them with individual users and websites.
Google Fusion works by exporting data values from the tables created
online or from a user provided spreadsheet and converting it into a meaningful
graphical data representation.

USE CASE

Radd have been traveling somewhat during the last few years, and he
wanted to check on a map which countries he already visited. There’s one
requirement: he want the whole area of countries I’ve visited to be highlighted.
There are a couple of solutions for that.
He searched for a website and he comes up with Elastic Stack, data
there can be stored in Elastic Search, and there’s one world map visualization
available for the Kibana dashboard. It worked, but the visualization handles geo-
location, but not highlighting an entire country and it requires some set-up.
Again he searched and he sees a dedicated app, he think that by using
that app, he is not the owner of the data anymore and that doesn't suit him.
Again he search, and he found the Google maps, it allows to add layers,
and dedicated data. He thinks that this solution would be a great fit, if it was
possible to easily highlight countries. And still, there’s still a lot of JavaScript to
write.
And lastly he tried Google fusion table, it’s possible to input the data
directly into Fusion Tables, it’s easier to do that in simple Google Spreadsheet
and he only put the date, country, place, type, and event of where he went and
it told him what are the countries he had not yet visited. He continues his travel
goals.

CONCLUSION
Google Fusion Table is a web service provided by Google for data
management. It is an experimental data web application used for gathering,
visualizing and sharing data tables. There are outstanding features in Google
Fusion Tables; Import your own data, visualize it instantly, publish your
visualization on other web properties, merge your data with other people’s data,
always up to date, share only what you want to, build on public data sets, and
keep track of who owns what. But then, Google is shutting down its Fusion
Tables. After a decade, Google Fusion Tables will shut down on December 3,
2019.
