House eyes panel for aiding victims of Marawi
TllE creation of a subcommiftee to
tackle the aftermath of the Manwi
siege and the pending rehabilitation
dfforts in the city, two yean after the
attack ended, has been proposed in
the House of Representatives.
Deputy Speaker Mujiv Hataman
ofBasilan on Monday said the pro-
posal received a positive response
from incumbent House leaders.

tee, according to Hataman.

Marawi if a committee can rnoni-
tor the situation," he said.
Meanwhile, House Bill3543, or
the "Marawi Siege Victims Com-
pensation Act," has been slowly
gaining traction with siSnatures
from 94 congressmen as co-au-
thors, equivalent to morc than 30
percent ofthe chamber

in Congress who beliwe that the
victims of the Marawi siege need
have compensation, We all know
that money can't bring back lives,
homes and sources of income

Under the bill, victims who
had property in the affected areas,
such as horne appliances, jewelry
machinery, vehicles and equip-
ment lost in the siege, are entitled

taken from the P30 billion wonh
of funds for the implementation

the next three years.
