What have I learned in this course and in the making of the OBE project

From the stories I heard from Mr. Malubag, Mr. Magbal and Mr. Maningding, about how the
renowned Santa Rosa Arch came to be, I was amazed at how rich the history of Santa Rosa is. As
a resident for almost 19 years and spending most of my childhood here, I have always admired the
arch as a kid whenever we go to the city market and even dreamt of climbing to the top of it. I also
used to stare a lot at the lions and the trumpeting angels thinking that I would notice if they moved
even for just a bit if I just focused enough, but I didn’t really know the history behind as well as
the symbolisms attached to it. Now that I got to learn more, my appreciation for this historical
structure grew and I somehow feel a sense of pride that my hometown possesses such a masterpiece
not just in terms of architecture but also in a historical perspective. I was also a bit disappointed to
learn that it’s not really the original but rather a remodeled and relocated replica and personally, I
think the original design was more intricate and beautiful compared to the modern version.
Furthermore, I think that it would be nice if the local residents would revive the old tradition of
blowing horns in the arch to signal the start of festivities as it would somehow be a symbolic
tradition to relive its old purpose as a signal tower aside from being a guard tower.
