WEEKLY PROGRESS REPORT

3rd WEEK
(3rd June, 2019 – 9thJune, 2019)

Date:3rd June 2019

Day: Monday

On this day of this third week of my summer internship I went to the Ghaziabad District
court at 11 am but there was no work to do and all the dates of the proceedings were moved
forward. I went with Sir’s assistant to the court room and saw how to put forth the request In
front of the judge in order to move the hearing date to some other date.

Date:4th June 2019

Day: Tuesday

On this day of the third week of my summer internship I went to Dubey Sir’s office. It was a
very busy and interesting day because the moment I reached sir told me that I was right on
time because two parties were about to visit him for outside court settlement. A worker
named Devpal was working on Primrose Apartments Site and around 4:30 a Steel rod
slipped from second floor of the Building and went through his chest and he was declared
dead upon arrival at the hospital. The widowed wife and his family wanted to settle this case
outside of the court and wanted damages of Rs. 7 Lakhs while the defendant wanted to settle
this claim for Rs 5 lakhs. The dispute heated various times when the wife began crying and
Dubey sir had to regulate the whole debate to make sure that they don’t resort to violence.
The parties left afterwards as sir had some work elsewhere and the settlement was postponed
to tomorrow.

Date:5nd June 2019

Day: Wednesday

On this day of the third week, I went to Dubey Sir’s office directly to see the how sir will
settle this dispute and which party will agree to whose demands. Sir told me that they are
going to get late due to Disposal of body and carrying out of traditions and everything for the
deceased therefore the case was postponed to Thursday.
Date:6th June 2019

Day: Thursday

On this day of the third week, I went to Dubey Sir’s chamber to see the final settlement of
the case. The parties were on time on this day and they both started arguing about safety
measures, negligence, illegal constructions, threats to call out goons to take revenge and
Dubey sir handed this matter very calmly and tried his best with his associates to calm down
the parties and resorted to emotional aspect of the case to bring the construction manager to
agree to pay Rs 6 Lakhs to the plaintiff with an apology to ignore safety norms. After the
settlement the defendant even got up to touch the feet of the deceased and asked for
forgiveness and told her to call them in case of any future issue.

Date:7th June 2019

Day: Friday

On this day of the third week, I went to Dubey Sir’s chamber to learn from his experience on
how to read minds of parties and how he managed to manipulate the whole room to create an
environment controlled by him. Sir told me to always be the bigger man in the room and
never to show any inclination towards one party to ensure that our objective is fulfilled while
favoring both the parties and making them believe that we are there well wisher and then
strike your argument to bring one party to accept the other demands to reach the best
decision possible

Date:8thJune 2019

documents are required for a case proceeding.
