“ROUND 2”

“VORSTAND 6.0”
Background – A fast growing organization in the IT / ITES sector has operations in multiple
cities in India. Its India operations have been positioned as the Offshore Delivery Centre
(ODC) and its people are its biggest assets. The organization has had a culture of trust &
transparency and has many employees who have remained since its inception and have
demonstrated a great sense of accountability and ownership.
Problem Statement – Flexible working and remote working are widely practised by a few
resulting in disparity in work timings and difficulty in collaborative working.
Description – Long timers are used to flexible working while the relatively new joinees have
been told about core working hours etc. In projects where the multi-generational workforce
must collaborate, there are challenges. From the obvious ones like difficulties in face-to-face
meetings, there are also subtle undercurrents in the interpersonal relationships. There is a
feeling that there is favouritism for those who avail flexibility. On the other hand, those who
are present in the office are often looked upon as if they are trying to impress the managers
by their mere long hours at work. Within months, these accentuated feelings started
resulting in resignations. Project delivery is getting impacted due to the resultant resource
crunch. Paying a retention compensation was attempted but it did not have much positive
effect. In fact, one could say that it even back-fired.
Risk – The biggest risk in this case is the loss of credibility of the organization. Social media
and Glassdoor reviews are not quite positive.
Lack of robust and practical processes may reduce the organization’s possibility of being a
preferred partner.
Challenge for you – Please provide your solution along the lines of the questions below:
1. What will be your short-term and long-term risk mitigation approaches?
2. How will you approach the culture transformation?
3. What milestones will you measure to check if the organization is moving on your
recommended roadmap?
4. What could be the best 2 ways of communication strategies to manage the change?
5. How long do you think this transformation would take for the customers to see a
change?
6. What is your recommendation to build the brand on social media?
