The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha, Tanzania, has
received support from the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to strengthen its post-graduate
programmes in Science, Engineering, Technology, and Innovation (SETI). These programmes are aimed at
providing Tanzanians with skills needed to add value to its natural resources and to enhance its
competitiveness and growth.
In response to this support, the NM-AIST has set aside a number of Master’s scholarships for the Academic
Year 2019/2020 to pursue the Master’s degree programmes as listed in the Table bellow:
The successful applicants will fully be funded according to the current NM-AIST fee structure. The
scholarships are open to Tanzanian students only and will run for two years. The scholarships will initially be
granted for one year and may be subsequently extended upon successful academic performance. Successful
applicants are expected to report for studies on 13th January 2020.
Eligibility criteria
1) A maximum of a 2-page motivation letter.
2) Certified copies of academic transcripts a n d certificates in relevant fields.
3) NM-AIST admission letter.
4) A recommendation letter from the current employer and/or previous supervisor/educator.
5) Evidence of peer reviewed journal publications (added advantage).
6) A maximum of a 2-page r esearch concept note.
7) A maximum of a 2-page of Curriculum Vitae (CV).
Incomplete documents or failure to follow instructions will automatically lead to disqualification. Please note
that only successful candidates will be informed for further instructions on reporting procedures and specific
scholarships agreements.
