4. Material Development

Compliment expression
Compliment is an expression to appreciate or praise to other people. Compliment is useful to
give encouragement so that people will keep on doing their best and even improve their
performance.
When to express compliment:
- On daily basis,
- When someone has done his/her best,
- When you visit someone’s house for the first time,
- If you notice something new about someone’s appearance.
Example of Compliment Expression :
Conversation 1 :
Rani : Hi, Anisa
Anisa : Hi, you look great in that that pink head scraf, what a nice scrarf.
Rani : Thank you, It’s very nice of you to say so.
Anisa : I have never seen you in that hat. Where did you buy it ?
Rani : my mom bought it for me when she went to the market.
Anisa : I see.
Rani : look. The teacher coming!
Anisa : Pak Sultoni.
Mr. Sultoni: Hi, How are you ?
Rani : We’re good. Thanks.
Anisa : Excellent.
Rani : You look really nice with the new hair cut, Pak Sultoni.
Anisa : Yes, you looking good with your hair style.
Mr. Sultoni: Thank a lot, Rani. I heard you won the Math Olympiad. Is it true ?
Rani : Yes, I wont the second prize last week.
Anisa : Congratulation Rani, you are Incredible.
Mr. Sultoni: I am so proud to hear that.
Rani : Thank you very much for saying so.

6. Learning Goals

1. Students will be able demonstrate compliment expression to their friends. (CC2)


2. students will be able select a situation to make a conversation with compliment expression
(PC3)

7. Knowledge of Learners

Teacher believes that students understand have For the goal is to make the students understand
prior knowledge about compliment expression and able to use compliment expression in daily
life and also make their own conversation

questions, exercises, game and also play some
songs.

For students that have difficulties in
understanding the context, teacher will provide
the examples in Bahasa first.

8. Pedagogy

 To open the lesson teacher using song and play a game.


 Ms. have this two markers and will play some music who got blue marker should say
a compliment to the one who got red marker. The one hold red marker should say the
response, ok.
 Teacher and students review the last meeting material.
 Do you still remember what we have learnt last week ?
 Can you mention the expression of compliment ?
 When does we express the compliment ?
 Students read a dialog from the book and find the expression of compliment in it
 Now, Please open your book at the page 32 read silently and carefully, find a new
word and find the meaning, please use your dictionary. Then underline the expression
of compliment.
 Teacher ask two students to read out loud the conversation.
 Please, students A and B read the conversation.
 Now class what are the expression they use in the dialog ?
 Teacher ask students to write the new word in the white board and discuss it together.
 Teacher ask students to write a longer conversation than previous one by choosing a
situation they want from the book.
 In pair please make a conversation.. you can choose the situation at the page 35-36
in your book. The
 Teacher ask students to act out their dialog in front the class.
 Teacher close the class by reviewing their new vocabulary and the expression of
compliment
 Girls, before we end the lesson please mention the new word you got today with the
meaning
 What expression we usually use to compliment our friends and family.

9. Anticipation

The anticipation for the lesson is if the students find difficulty in understanding the questions or
explanations, the teacher will use lower knowledge level or change the learning path.

10. Mitigation

The mitigation for this lesson will be done if the students not understand the idea of verb or part
of speech at all. Teacher will provide less rigid examples and more related to daily life, both in
English and Bahasa.

11. Assessment

Assessment will be done in continuous assessment in every process of the teaching and learning,
their basic knowledge, practice, and draw conclusion.
