RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the research design, the population and locale of the study, the

collection procedures, data collection instruments and the treatment data.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The descriptive method was utilized in this study since it aimed to describe the challenges

encountered by the high school students living away from home at Benguet National High

School-main at Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet. Descriptive data we’ve collected through a

survey questionnaire material.

A particular survey questionnaire was used as a primary source of information which

were personally distributed to the chosen respondents.

POPULATION AND LOCALE OF THE STUDY

The respondents of the study were selected Senior High School students from Benguet

National High School- main at Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet because mostly High school

students are the one who encountering challenges of living away from home. There were 60

chosen respondents who took part of this study.

This study was conducted during the second semester of school year (SY)

2018-2019.

DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURE

After the survey questionnaire has been approved by the researcher’s subject teacher

(Ma’am Janice Kantala), the researcher asked permission to the respective teachers and target

respondents of Benguet National High School-main for the distribution of the survey

questionnaire in the respective school.

 TREATMENT OF THE DATA

The data gathered from the respondents was treated to give information. All collected

survey questionnaires was carefully checked and analyzed by the researchers. The researchers

count and tally the collected data. The results were put into tables to summarize the data

collected.
 CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

The proposed study revolves around the idea of challenges encountered by the students

living away from home and its effect to the academic performances of the students.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The objective of the study shall be to determine the:

a. Challenges encountered by the students living away from home

b. How does living away from affects the academic performances of the students
c. Level of academic performances of the students living away from home
d. Advantages and disadvantages of living away from parents
