 I want students to describe the structure of the demographic transition model
, discuss the importance of literacy
 I want students to analyze factors that influence population change and its
effect on the economy, differentiate between demography and Census,
compare the population of Pakistan with other highly populated countries of
the world, scrutinize urban population with rural population
 I want students to list down the name of top most countries of the world
according to their literacy rate. Research and evaluate human well-being
within a country based on quality of life indicators

In the Classroom: Time
- Share learning outcomes with students at the beginning of class. Required:

 Describe the impact of rapid increase of population in
Pakistan on the development of a country

- Teacher will bring the population chart of different countries in Time

- She will divide students into a group of four members and 10 Minutes

write instructions at the left corner of the board.

Explain: 25 minutes
ACTIVITY:

 Teacher will give an article on demography. The students can


work on the worksheet # 1 in three small groups. Each group
should receive a question or set of questions and the
corresponding text. The groups should write down the important
information from the texts, answer the questions, and then
summaries their answers into succinct points that are
understandable for the class. The results should be presented by
each group, collected on a shared worksheet and made available

to all students.
 After this teacher will show video to the students and ask
questions related to the video

 Teacher will star the chapter by inquiring some of the question
like how many students are there in your class.
 Then she will explain that the number of students in your class is
your class population. If you want to count the total population of
your school so you need to go in every class and count the
number of students and then add them to find out the total
strength of your school. In the same way every government of the
country count the number of its citizens after every ten years and
this process is called census.
 She will also explain the importance of census.
 She will draw graph on the board to show the recent report of
census of Pakistan and discuss the graph with students

 She will also inquire why I draw chart on the board. Is there any
other way to represent the data? Then she will explain them that
presenting data in to charts is called statistics.
 After this activity teacher relate the activity to the topic

 Book reading pg. #115-117 will be done.

#1 to them and ask them to memorize and create short question
and answer from the given question

DAY # 2 Time
Explain: Required:
 Teacher will facilitate students about previous taught topic which 25 minutes
they learned and connect the discussion to the related topic to
continue further topics Population size and composition.
 Teacher will draw the map of Pakistan on the board showing the
current rate of population in Pakistan. Same map in the form of
hand out will be given to the students and ask them to point out
the highly populated city of Pakistan.

 Students will sit in groups. Each group consist of 3-4 members.
Teacher will make the group and Group discussion will be done in
class.
 Book reading Pg#117 and explanation will be done.
 Teacher will ask students to imagine if you are living in a highly
populated city. Enlist the difficulties which you will face as a
citizen and what are your responsibility to solve that problems.
 Then teacher will explain students about the three main
profession of the country.
 She will also discuss about infant mortality. She will do brain
storming from their prior knowledge which they had been studied
in their previous classes.
 She will draw a table on rate of death and rate of birth on the
board in rural and urban areas and ask them which area has high
rate of death and birth.

Explain: Required:
 Teacher will recall the previous taught concept. 25 minutes
 She will give hand out to the students in which the story of Razia
is written who has been shifted from Pakistan to America.

 Teacher will ask question from students about the story.
 Hand out will be given to the students regarding story
 Teacher will draw traffic sign on the board and ask why Traffic
signs do not need any word.
 Further she will explain, why the expectation of life for Pakistan
is lowered considerably by the high figures for maternal
mortality, in the rural and remote areas: so is it with literacy. How
do we measure whether a person is literate or not? Some societies
allow the ability to scrawl some kinds of signature on a form,
whether a person can read it or not, as a sign of literacy. Discuss
with pupil what they consider literacy is: it just the ability to read
and write and if so, to what standard?
