Introduction

Nowadays, we are suffering environmental dilemmas such as global warming, flash

floods. One of the causes of these problems is the misbehavior of the people towards waste

management. Some people are reckless in throwing their garbage. They do not think of the

possible results of their actions on the environment as well as on health. (J. Lamocho et.al, 2013)

Wastes have been part of our environment today, which is bad. As early as we can, we

need to clean our environment. The old fashion way was way too long to finish, it could even

take a whole night. There are many garbage collecting devices but far too expensive for the

government to afford. So we must find more effective and cheaper solution.

Most of the garbage is improperly segregated and disposed. This can have a great impact

to the environment as well as to our health. Thus, improper segregation of garbage is now an

enormous issue in the entire globe. Recognizing the effects of improper management, garbage

crisis can be prevented by practicing waste characterization and segregation at source, proper

collection and transfer, recycling, and composting as mandated by the law. (Aquino et.al, 2013).

Street sweepers play an important role in maintaining the health and hygiene in the cities.

This job exposes street sweepers to a variety of risk factors such as dust, bioserosols, volatile

organic matter and mechanical stress, which make them susceptible to certain occupational

diseases. The important morbid conditions detected in these workers include the diseases of the

respiratory system and eye, accidents, injuries, cuts and wounds, skin infections, animal bites,

etc. (Sabde, 2008)

The main objective of this study is to help the street cleaners in terms of having easier

ways in cleaning our surrounding. This study will focus on developing a street cleaning device

for the people in a community. This device will let users find cleaning easier and more

enjoyable. In addition, it may also help in terms of having good health through exercise.

The importance of this study is to help the street sweepers to speed up work. And this

device can help to lessen the waste problem on the society. The results of the study will be of

great benefit to the people who cleans trash on flat surfaces and the society.
Research Question

1. How efficient is trashcycle in collected waste in terms of:

a) Amount of garbage collecting in an hour

b) Area (m) cleaned in an hour

2. What is the level of appreciation of the device in terms of:

a) Ease of use/convenience

b) Practicality

c) Affordable

d) Life of the device

Procedure

The researcher will look for an old bicycle. For the flat sheet and the rope, the

researchers will go to a hardware and buy.

II

First the Researchers will buy flat sheets at the hardware store. After that, the

researchers will buy angle bars, for the frame. After buying those, the Researchers will proceed

at the junk shop to buy an old bicycle. After buying the materials the researchers will proceed on

making the frame. The frame will be built using angle bars, creating an outline for the flat sheets.

After creating the frame of angle bars, the Researchers will proceed at drilling holes for the

sheets. After that, the Researchers will cut the flat sheets into shape that could fit in the angle bar

frame. After cutting the sheets, the Researchers will proceed on connecting them to the angle bar

frame using rivets. And when the frame is done, the Researchers will now go to a welding show

to weld the frame to the bike.

III

On a filthy street, the researchers will drive the bike in a period of time. Testing in

about 8 hours and also doing a normal street cleaning to see if there will be an effect or

improvement.

Risk and safety

The researchers may encounter hazardous events during the actual process to make the

device. The researchers can possibly have wounds while connecting the materials needed to

create the device because of the pointed materials and other materials that may cause harm to the

researchers. The researchers can also be wedged while connecting the materials on the device.

To prevent the risk in making the device , the researchers must consult experts on how to

make the device properly in order to avoid being hurt on the process. The researchers must also

wear safety gears to prevent being wounded.
