Don�t Let Your Stress Crush Your Career

What made you stop working when you are at work? Was it your stress? Or was that
your negative stimulus?

Generally, stress is a reason which can make your life a struggle. Stress is all
around us, and work is a primary contributor. When we feel stressed at work, it
becomes challenging to focus on one thing and make any progress. Most work involves
stress, this can hit individuals at all levels within an organization, including
employees, team leads, managers, and senior leaders. Some stress is reasonable if
it excessive then it can become a problem.

What is Workplace Stress?


Workplace stress can occur when nothing seems to be going right in terms of work
when there is a conflict between the requirements of the role, your capabilities,
and resources.

Everyone knows what stress feels like and we have most likely all experienced it
once in our lives, at home, at a college or at work. If it is normal then it can be
beneficial in a small amount, but if it is ongoing, then work productivity suffers,
and poor performance can crush a career.

Employees who are not given the right direction about their job responsibilities,
or feel there is no opportunity for success at their job, develop negative emotion
such as frustration or grievance. This leads to being more focused on the surviving
of a job than contributing to an organization success.

Some contributing factors of workplace stress include:

Working late hours or overtime, no proper breaks and carrying work home.

Work deadline, time pressure, working too hard or too fast or unreal targets.

Not receiving enough support from management or coworkers.

Job Insecurity.

Lack of role clarity.

Disagreements with colleagues and managers.

Understanding Your Own Stress


By knowing what is contributing to the stress that enables you to look at the
strategies to manage your work role. You may have identified the several things in
the listed factors. It can be helpful for you to track your mood to determine what
parameters are impacting on your stress levels.

There are many things you can do to handle your stress levels, whether you are team
leaders or a part of the team.

Think Positively
Start your day with positive energy. Make self-talk as easy as possible and don�t
let any negative things on your mind. Soon enough you will be going with the flow
of your day in your own way, no matter what comes on your path. Don�t judge or make
a conclusion about what is happening at any moment.

Sometimes your boss has pressure that you don�t even know about, and is passing it
on to you. Don�t bother anything, just do your work. The more you direct positive
thought to your life, and the easier it will reduce stress and let happiness in at
work.

Take Regular Breaks


Get some fresh air, roam around your work area, or grab a cup of your favorite
beverages can help you more productive at work. Being busy all the time may lead to
distraction and deflate productivity.

Take a deep breath. Slow, deep breathing help you to reduce frustration and calm
down. Being calm we can work more productive and make a better decisions.

Take Your Holiday Leave


When you are stressed, taking a complete break from work can reduce work-related
stress prevents anxiety and depression and increases your work performance. You
will come back to the office with a better attitude.

Play Music While Working:


Studies show that the soothing power of music is well-established. Music has a
unique link to our emotion; it can contribute to relaxation by channeling your
stress and negative emotion. Play your favorite music and help you to improve
concentration by suppressing distraction around the office. Just don�t sing it
loudly!

Set Practical Deadlines and Delivers on Time


Managing your work schedule so you will deliver the work on time will not only
enhance productivity but also allow you to complete a task to a high standard
without any pressure. Plan it properly and implement it step by step. Speak up and
ask for help if the deadline is not achievable.

Hopefully, you will implement these things whenever you feel stress at workplace,
and experience a happier and joyful life ahead.
