Hi

I found the word "infomation" used a lot in google search results. Is this word another variant of
"information", with an 'r', or is it just a typo? This site is one example of the word "infomation" in a
sentence.

It's just a typo. I don't think it can be ignorance. rm is often misread for m by scanners.

I've also seen something like that. If you write "infomation" to google , you can see the results. There
are a lot.

Thank you very much, but there are so many search results here. Is it completely intolerable?

Common or not, you should not use it on purpsose!

It's one of the drawbacks of Google, everyone's erratic typing is captured for ever! I am queen of the
typos, and try really hard to be accurate in here, but even then a few get past me (sorry!)

That's where a site like ours can keep you on the straight and narrow, it encougrages me to proof read
and all of us to check our hunches with others!

Looking at Google links for infomation it is amazing how many of them are from up-right places like
colleges and broadhseet newspapers, the first one on mine being the Guardian. This paper is so
famous for poor proof-reading that it's known as the Grauniad by some of us!

It's a mistake, so don't do it on purpose. Many people try to tolerate the mistakes of others.
