VII. Problems:

1. Discuss any differences for the data obtained for the connection of wye and delta
connection.

In the wye connection, Line Current and Phase Current are equal while in the delta
connection, the Line Voltage and Phase Voltage are equal.

2. What is wye configuration and delta configuration?

Wye configuration is a connection of three voltage sources together in a “Y” or a

“star” configuration. This configuration of voltage sources is characterized by a
common connection point joining one side of each source. Line current = Phase
current.

Delta configuration is a connection of three voltage sources together in a geometric

resemblance to the Greek letter of the same name (Δ). Line voltage = Phase voltage.

3. What is the relationship of phase voltages/currents with line voltages/currents in wye

and delta connection?

In wye connection, Line Voltage = square root of 3, times the Phase Voltage and
Line current = Phase Current.

In delta connection, Line Current = square root of 3, times the Phase Current and
Line Voltage = Phase Voltage.

4. Calculate the percentage error of voltage obtained using experimental value and the
theoretical value.
