Introduction
因为这周是感恩节 (yīnwèi zhè shōu shì gǎnēnjié) = Because this week is Thanksgiving.

感恩节怎么庆祝 (gǎnēnjié zěnme qìngzhù) = How to celebrate Thanksgiving?

吃火鸡，看朋友，买东西 (chīhuǒjī, kànpéngyou, mǎidōngxī) =

Eat turkey, visit friends, buy stuff (shopping)

很有意思 (hěn yǒu yìsi) = (it's) very interesting (sounds like fun)

的 (de ) = possessive particle

麦当劳的咖啡 (màidāngláo de kāfēi) = McDonald's coffee

学校的老师 (xuéxiào de lǎoshī) = School's teacher

公司的老板 (gōngsī de lǎobǎn) = Company's boss

纽约的天气 (niǔyuē de tiānqì) = New York's weather

姐姐的心情 (jiějie de xīngqíng) = sister's mood

他的手机 (tāde shǒujī) = His cellphone

朋友的生日 (péngyou de shēngrì) = friend's birthday

感恩节的火鸡 (gǎnēnjié de huǒjī) = Thanksgiving's turkey

Sometimes you don't need 的 (de) to indicate close relationships such as in:
A close personal relationship (family, close friends, boyfriends/girlfriends)
An institutional or organizational relationship (school, work). Some examples:

我妈妈喜欢旅游 (wǒ māma xǐhuan lǚyóu) = My mom likes to travel

她哥哥是英语老师 (tā gēge shì yīngyǔ lǎoshī) = Her brother is an English teacher

我男朋友在北京 (wǒ nán péngyou zài běijīng) = My boyfriend is in Beijing

你女儿在家吗？(nǐ nǚ ér zài jiāma)= Is your daughter at home?

 我们家有狗 (wǒmen jiā yǒu gǒu) = Our family has a dog

欢迎来我家！(huānyíng lái wǒ jiā) = Welcome to my home

他们学校很大 (tāmen xuéxiào hěn dà) = Their school is very big

你们医院在哪？(nǐmen yīyuàn zài nǎ)= Where is your hospital

Pronouns:

我 (wǒ): I, me

你 (nǐ): you

他/她/它 (tā) : he or she or it

我们 (wǒ men): we, us

你们 (nǐ men): you as plural

他们: (tā men): they, them

Dialogue A: 去年感恩节你在哪？

(qùnián gǎn ēn jié nǐ zài nǎ) =

Where were you last Thanksgiving?

B：在德州。 (zài dézhōu) = (I was) in Germany

A：去年感恩节德州的天气怎么样

(qùnián gǎnēnjié dézhōu de tiān qì zěnme yàng) =

How was the weather last Thanksgiving in Germany?

B：很好，七十度，不冷也不热。

(hěnhǎo, qīshí dù, bùlěng yě búrè)

Very good, 70 degrees, not cold and not hot.

A：今年呢？(jīnnián ne?) = How about this year?

B: 今年 Savannah 的天气也很好，早上晚上冷。

(jīnnián Savannah de tiānqì yě hěnhǎo, zǎoshàng wǎnshàng lěng) =

This year Savannah's weather is also good, morning, evening is cold

 A: 去年感恩节的晚餐怎么样？

(qùnián gǎnēnjié de wǎncān zěnme yàng) =

How was last year's Thanksgiving dinner?

B：去年我们去朋友家，感恩节的 party 很有意思，晚餐很好吃。

(qùnián wǒmen qù péngyou jiā, gǎnēnjié de party hěn yǒu yìsi,

wǎncān hěn hǎochī)

Last year we went to a friend's home, Thanksgiving party was very

interesting, dinner was tasty.

A: 今年感恩节来我们家吧。我哥哥姐姐还有德国的朋友，人多有意思

This year's Thanksgiving come to our home. My older brother,

older sister and also German friend (will come), lots of people is fun.

B: 好啊，我八个月的女儿可以来吗？

(hǎo ā, wǒ bā gè yuè de nǚ ér kěyǐ láima?) =

Ok, can my 8 month daughter come?

A: 太好了，八个月的宝宝很可爱。

(tài hǎole, bā gè yuè de bǎobao hěn kě ài)

Thanks great, 8 month baby is so cute

德国 (déguó) = Germany

德国的朋友 (déguó de péngyou) = Friends from Germany

可爱 (kě ài) = cute

晚餐 (wǎncān) = dinner

感恩节的晚餐 (gǎnēnjié de wǎncān) = thanksgiving dinner.

八个月的宝宝 (bā gè yuè de bǎobao) = 8 month old treasure (baby)
