Attention Getter
“Your attention is given.” This is a saying that our classroom uses to get the students focused and
started.
Instructional Input/Procedures
1.Bell work: Students will work on a New World/Old World Candle Socrative quiz. They will
work on this at the beginning of class. This quiz reinforces the student’s knowledge on New
World vs. Old World ingredients. This will take about five minutes.
2. After the students have completed the quiz, we will go over the answers as a class. I will ask
for one volunteer to come help run the board. The class should discuss why the answer is correct
or incorrect. I will use a soft food ball to help with participation.
3. They will log on to Canvas and continue working on the assignment titled “2.2 For Pizza’s
Sake!” This assignment is designed to help the students understand the importance of the
Columbian Exchange.
4. For the assignment they will act like they are a restaurant owner. They will have to pick if they
are living in the New World or Old World. Whichever World they pick they can only use the
ingredients they had.
5. The students will need to create:
 RESTAURANT NAME!
 Where is your restaurant located? (Make Up an Address!)
 3 Appetizer Items
 3 Soup Items
 3 Entree Items
 3 Side Items
 3 Desserts
 3 Beverages
 For each Menu Item you need to find some sort of picture that represents the item.
 Each Menu Item must have a price- Modern Day Restaurant Prices.

6. Student will need to use Google Slides or Ludipress to show their final creation of their menu.

7. This will be the first real day of work. Students should come to class decided if their restaurant
will be in the Old/New World. Today they will continue working on their assignment.

8.While the students work, I will be walking around the room to answer questions and to check if
the students are following directions.

Assessment/ Evaluation
1.Students will be evaluated on how they use the correct ingredients for their menu.
2. Students will also take a short quiz on Friday over the information learned during this
assignment.
Differentiation Modifications/Adaptations
1. This assignment can be modified for students by reducing the amount of food options they
have on their menu.
Closure
At the end of the hour, I will remind them that this assignment will be due on Friday
(tentatively).
