I have deee my internship at Punjab University FM104.6. It is a great experience 0f my

life to work in radio. The basic purpose of our internship was that we have to face the
society/people in future (this is my point of view).Control room department where there
is panel then editing and mixing and the last is production which done in last two years,
We have io me and they heip me out in every step. I started my internship from News

PUNJAB UNIVERSITY FM 104.6

Punjab University is running its own radio channel namely Punjab University FM 104.6

PM 04.6) since 2004. It is situated in the premises of Punjab University set

Communicaton studies (1CS). Institute of Communication Studies (IC) 1s responsible

for a
ttairs if the PUFM104.6 including Administration, Programming, Production and
Fresenau

PUFM 104.6 1s the first ever educational radio channel in Punjab, province o Pakist
stahlished in universities. Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA)
1ssucd the
ccnse or PoFM 104.6 on the educational grounds as a result of its tlexible policy 1or the

promotion of electronic media.

Punjab University Radio FM 104.6 is basically a non-commercial radio channel which

has been estabiished to provide the educational services to the people of Lahore City.
One ot the
prime objcctives of PU Radio T04.6 15 to provide a learning platform to the students of
Communication Studies. Students doing speC1alization in electronic media practice
their
kknowledge of practical journalism in a real encouraging Radio broadcasting
atmosphere. Punjad
University FM 104.6 Radio Station is fully equipped with latest and moderm
broadcasting

Facilities. The station is located in the broadcasting wing ot the Institute ot

Communication

Studies, University of the Punjab.

 HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION

Punjab University Radio FM 104.6 started its transmission on 5 June 2004 when Vice
Chancellor Punjab University Arshed Mahmood inaugurated the station and aired he
transmission by pressing the mouse button of the computer. The he transmission ot

for four bours daily from 12 pm to 4 pm. 1he students ol Institute of Communication
studies
work in radio station as volunteer presenters, announcers, Script writers and program
S tesearcncr.
He facilities in PUFM 104.6 are up to the word students and this is all because of the

dedication of station director Prof. Mushes-ud-Din Sheikh.

The broadcasting and inlrastructural facilities avai lable in PUFM does not exist in the
Droadcasting houses of many universities of media studies across the world. Punjab
University
Kadio hasS Signed MOU with many national and nternational broadcasting
organizalions. PUFM
104.6 has now become a place ol producing quality producers and presenters as a
human resource center for the commercial need of the broadcasting market. Many
trained producers and
presenterS of POFM are noW woTkIng n commercial radio stations ol the country and

contributing their experiences and Skils prolessionally,
