Lesson Plan September 16th, and 17th, 2019

Theme: All About Me

Grade: Kindergarten

S.L.O’s Covered:

- Talks about favourite oral, print and other media texts.

- relates aspects of oral, print and other media texts to personal feelings and experiences •
- Appreciate feelings, ideas, stories and experiences shared by others (C, I)
- Explores and responds to the design and properties of a variety of natural and manufactured
materials and objects
- Recognizes that some activities or events occur at particular times; e.g., recess, lunch,
bedtime and seasonal changes

Lesson Objectives:

- Students will be able to share, and play nicely with others in our class
- Students will be able to follow instructions given by teacher and other adults in the classroom
- Students will be able to show respect for classroom and school materials during open inquiry
time
- Students will be able to identify zones of regulations and partake in activities in which can
help get them back into the green zone willingly

Materials Needed:

- Water Table?
- Littlest Pet shop toys
- Cameras
- Alphabots
- Lego
- Blocks
- House center
- Puzzles/ Games

Procedure:

1. Lunch
- Monitor students as they eat, get them to clean when they finish and play when they are
done
2. P.E
- Tag game: Freeze Dance or Freeze Tag
- Open gym materials: balls/ other gym materials such as hula hoops
3. Afternoon Meeting
- Zones of Regulation
- Faces that would apply to each zone
- Tell a friend one time you were in the yellow zone
- Tell a friend one time you were in the blue zone
- Explain mindfulness and goals of these types of activities: getting to green
- Finger/hand breathing activity as a group
4. Watch Inside Out
- Different starting point for each group on blue sticky note
5. Open Exploration Time
- Set up stations and activities while students are watching the movie
6. Recess (maybe)
- Potentially go outside before actual recess begins weather and kid dependant
- Trying to make it to music quicker
7. Music
- Walk students down to Mrs. Garlocks room
- Pick them up at 3:00
8. Closing Circle
- Sharing: what is one thing that you learnt today in Kindergarten that you want to tell your
parents?
- Read: Remarkably You
- Dance PARTY
- Help dismiss students at the end of the day and send home moose folders
- Bus kids leave at 3:25

Adaptations/Differentiation:

- Have fidget toys available for students who may need them during afternoon meeting/circle
time
- Have a variety of stations and materials available and prepared for all interests and levels of
learners in the classroom

Assessment:

- Student ability to share their discoveries with the entire class


- Students ability to follow instructions given by teacher and procedures of the kindergarten
classroom
- Students ability to think creatively and engage fully with certain materials/activities
- Students ability to identify zones of regulation and the emotions that are associated with
each color
