William Junior Rosa Pre-School Teacher 16 September 2019

My Dream job is becoming a Pre-school Teacher. I always enjoyed the idea of being in a

position with such importance, where every day I step foot in the classroom what I say and do

matters. The power to educate the possible next president, doctor, athlete, or even veterinarian.

They are looking for someone to educate young minds through activities that are

designed to jumpstart the development of their social, physical, and intellectual skills. (Career

Planner, n.d.) For. This position has three requirements. First, you must complete the approved

teacher preparation program along with a bachelor’s degrees. Second, you must pass

state/national competency examinations, and lastly earn a state teaching license/certification

(PreschoolTeacher , 2019). Requirement varies through state.

It is required to have a bachelor’s degree to become a preschool teacher. I believe this

level of education is needed since children at a young age are like sponges ready to soak in all

the knowledge life has to offer. Each child should have someone educating them that

understands how their minds work and how to center their lessons in ways that are better

absorbed by all types of students. Some students at a very young age might view their teacher as

a role model figure, which means that they must understand all kids learn different ways and

they sometimes don’t have all the control over their actions. I have already started gearing up to

follow in the path towards this job status. I have taken classes in leadership, communications,

and psychology in preparation to gain the basic skills needed to fit in a teaching role. The

leadership classes I have taken have helped me understand the type of leader I am and how to

improve on my strengths, while working to solve any weaknesses I might possess. This course

has exposed me to different leadership styles and has gotten me thinking about what kind of

leader I want to be and what kind of leadership style would be most effective when dealing with

younger followers. Communications has taught me the importance of listening and

understanding different demographics. Not all groups of people think and process information

the same. Communication has taught me how to analyze my audience and how-to best appeal to

their preferences thus helping me achieve their success. Psychology has given me an in-depth

view into the brain. Which will help me understand why kids act a certain way and what is going

on with them inside. I plan on taking more psychology courses aimed at the young mind

throughout my college career.

The average annual wages were $28,990, recorded in year 2017. (Farnen, 2018) The

salary one makes in a career like this depends on important factors. These factors could be

anything like location, degree, experience, and more. Records show that the best-paying states

for preschool teachers to work in would be locations like New York, Connecticut, New Jersey,

District of Columbia and Nebraska. (U.S News & World Report, n.d.) The article from the

library that I have chosen is titled “Preschool teachers deserve sufficient pay.” It discusses the

urgent need of preschools to assist families that are trying their best to get their kids out of the

poverty cycle. (Newby, 2018) Preschool has the ability to introduce kids to the basic knowledge

needed to guide life to a positive track. The position of being a preschool teacher comes with a

great amount of responsibility. It is essential that the people in those positions are given the

compensation they deserve for what they are worth. This is a career that has strong value behind

it, and I will receive exactly what I feel my job position is worth. My plan to manage that money

would be to design a budgeting system custom built for all expenses. This would help me track

bill payments and understand what percentage of my earnings should go to my savings. The

salary earned in this career isn’t made to be spent in a reckless matter, especially if this is a full-

time position.
