MY REFLECTION ON TEACHER’S INDUCTION

PROGRAM

Initial years have provided me a lot of challenging experiences, in the

process of becoming a professional. More responsibilities are assumed as one
matures in the profession. A young professional keep connected with other
teachers by becoming an active member of professional organizations. A young
professional continues to learn in order to master the craft of teaching.

I am a young professional seeking for a wider opportunity of the profession

I took. I am young professional looking up above to my expert colleagues and
giving the respect that they want. I am young professional accepting those
critiques and acknowledgement by my superior. I am young professional who
needs guidance from those teachers who are knowledgeable with the profession
I took. That is why I am thankful with the Department of Education as they have
offered the Teacher Induction Program (TIP) for those beginning teachers like
me.

Induction is an umbrella term for the supports put in place to assists

teachers in adapting to a new workplace culture. A stand-alone program before
the school year should be a priority to support most immediate needs, followed
by continued work throughout the first year. Induction goes beyond
understanding students, classes and curriculum. Information about the systems
and processes that guide the workplace, as well as school norms, are integral for
teachers to settle in and feel confident; however, it’s important to keep in mind
the pace at which this is done.

My Aims

1. I want to be a professional who is adaptive to new environment.

2. I want to be a professional fully equipped with knowledge and skills in dealing with student’s capacity to learn.
3. I want to be a professional who continues to seek for life-long learning process in terms of education.

My Goals

1. INSPIRE STUDENTS (Effort and enthusiasm as a teacher directly influences student’s commitment to my
course and interest on my field. Great teachers inspire students by demonstrating belief in their student’s abilities
and providing the support that students need to meet challenging academic demands.)
2. MENTOR YOUNG INTELLECTS (I attribute a great deal of my intellectual growth to my advisor’s
mentorship and guidance.)
3. HELP STUDENTS FIND THEIR VOICE (A teacher must help her/his students in finding the courage to
speak what he/she wants to say. A student must be outspoken.)
4. HELP STUDENTS ARTICULATE AND FOLLOW THEIR VALUES (It is also easy for students to
think the learning process is limited to lectures, readings or problem sets. One of the main goals of education is to
help students figure out who they are and how they can be of service to their community. Great teachers help
students understand the social responsibilities of their field and the social impact of their choices.)

My Objectives

1. IMPARTING AN ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT MATTER: I must develop a good

command of the subject matter that I have. I must master the necessary understanding and skills in maintaining
the mastery of my subject matter.
2. EQUIPPED WITH THE PEDAGOGIC SKILLS IN TEACHING: Develop a skill to stimulate experience
in teaching, under an artificially created environment, less with material resources and more by the creation of an
emotional atmosphere. Develop a capacity to do, observe, infer and to generalize.
3. ENABLE TO ACQUIRE AN UNDERSTANDING OF CHILD PSYCHOLOGY: Understand the
child psychology so that the I can be able to appreciate the difficulties experienced by children to bring about new
modes and methods of achieving the goals in consonance with the reactions of the children.
4. DEVELOPING PROPER ATTITUDES TOWARD TEACHING: Develop proper attitudes towards
teaching as a result of which I will be able to maximize the achievements from both the material and human
resources.
5. DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO GIVE DIRECT SATISFICATION OF PARENTS FROM THE
ACHIEVEMENT OF CHILDREN IN TERMS OF: (a) Proper habits of taking care of the body, (b)
Proper attitudes reflected in behavior of the children at home, in the school, in the streets, etc., and (c) Progress
in the class.
A STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT TO THE PROFESSION OF
TEACHING

I acknowledge that I am a member of a profession that extends to me the opportunity and the privilege to make a
positive difference in the lives of young people.

I bring to the profession my unique talents and to lead, which I commit to nurturing and developing throughout my
career.

I understand that teaching is deeply human endeavor. While I teach subjects, ideas and skills, above all I teach young
people, who are our future.

I recognize and respect the body of distinct theory and knowledge which is gifted to me by those who have come before.
I draw from it and strive to contribute further to it.

I recognize that young people learn in different ways and at different rates. I believe that given appropriate support
and resourcing, all young people can learn, and I strive to nurture a love of learning that will help every young person to succeed.

I make judgements to evaluate student’s achievement through assessment that is valid, reliable and fair, and I give
value to those learnings that cannot be measured.

I recognize that teaching is a collaborative profession and I am not the only teacher in a young person’s life. My work
is enriched through working with my colleagues, learning from them and contributing to their practice.

I acknowledge the contributions of the many parents, caregivers, and teacher’s past, present and future who contribute
to a young person’s education. I work with them wherever possible to enrich the learning of young people.

I offer a spirt of optimism, resilience and hope as I support young people to develop and act on the values, beliefs and
capabilities that guide them throughout their lives.

I recognize the changing nature of knowledge, and I commit to continuous learning throughout my professional
career.
In committing to this statement, I accept the responsibilities of being a teacher, and acknowledge the deep trust placed
in me by young people, parents and the society.

MY PERSPECTIVE ON TEACHER INDUCTION PROGRAM
(TIP)

The intent of teacher induction program is to provide a systematic structure of

support for beginning teachers. It provides an opportunity to work closely with and learn
from a veteran teacher. A teacher induction program can help new teachers improve
practice, learn professional responsibilities and ultimately positively affect student
learning.
