B Engineer Inspections for Engineer’s Inspection for Maintenance should be carried out to prevent slope failure
Maintenance, which when the Routine Maintenance Inspection by layman observed unusual ground
should be carried out by a movement such as widening cracks, settling ground, bulging, wall distortion or settlement
professionally-qualified of the crest platform. An Engineer’s Inspection for Maintenance should be conducted
and experienced once every five years or more as required based on the Routine Maintenance
geotechnical engineer. Inspections. More frequent inspections may be desirable for slopes and retaining walls in
the high risk-to-life category.

The maintenance procedure outline in the General Slope Maintenance is applicable for the maintenance works for reinforced geogrid
slope.
Turf Maintenance:
Thick and tall turf could contribute to the slow surface water discharge which in turn could have caused significant surface water
infiltration especially during continuous heavy rainfall. In view of these consequences, it is recommended that the turf to be trimmed and
maintained at 100m thick for reinforced geogrid slope.
In the event of slope failures, the following rectification methods are proposed.
Major Slip Failure - Continuous heavy rainfall The method of rectification for the reinforced geogrid slope should be
resulting in high volume of designed by professionally-qualified and experienced geotechnical
surface water infiltration into engineer based on the Engineer’s inspection.
the slope surface and saturate
