SUMMARY
Chapter 1 “Supervision”

1. Sintya’s question:
As you said before, in the hotel there are two supervisors. How do we know about
the scope of our division in our job and how to apply it?
Answer:
In our opinion, if we are as a new supervisor we should be curious people. Because
if we are the outside of the company, hotel or department, if we apply for the job as
a supervisor we should know about the job of course. So we can search in the google
or ask your friend already as a supervisor bout the requirements of the supervisor
and that we already show before, the job characteristics of the supervisor. so about
the job, If you are already applying to the department, you can ask the same
supervisor there as have two supervisors or of course the manager should to give
the information about the hotel, facilities, or all of the company.

2. Rani’s question:
As we know sometimes supervisors are seen badly by employees, such a frequent
commanding, often shouting, more sitting in the office and many more. How should
supervisor respond and behave? So that it can create a good working atmosphere
between employees and supervisor
Answer:
Actually sometimes we not usually are seen good from the others. As a supervisor,
we should improve your skill. For example, if you have poor communication skills,
you should improve that. So we should motivation ourselves first, so we can to
motivate our staff to. It means leading by example. Because the supervisor is leaders
who are supposed and shouting the staff. As a staff, we should make the other
people comfortable working with us to create sustainability. The thing that we can
do as a supervise is to be nice and friendly with anyone because we will better easier
to manage other people when those people are friends with us and of course we are
looking good from others. The key is supervisor doing action The key is for the
supervisor to take action, do the supervisor can make tolerant to others (the guest,
the staff, etc) not just sitting like a boss.

3. Adit’s question:
You said that one of a problem that usually happened being a supervisor is unruly
staff, so if you are in that position what you are going to do to your staff to solve
that problem?
Answer:
If we are as a supervisor and we have unruly staff. So if we are as a professional
supervisor, we can handle staff like the characters as we said before, the supervisor
should have self-confidence, humble, moral characters, honesty, desire influence
each other. If you have the desire to influence each other, the staff will listen and
follow you.

4. Sukma’s question:
Being a supervisor there is a qualitative goals, one of them is cooperation or
teamwork. The different supervisor has a different feel, like can we said they have
high position so they arrogant, and don't want to work together to the other
employees How to supervisor ilustrate that or how to handle the supervisor like
that?
Answer:
You as a supervisor should embrace your employees like your friends, make a good
environment, or all situations must be good. so the staff will work comfortably. you
should have a good character as a supervisor, so the staff will do teamwork well.

5. Gita’s question:
One of the problems of a supervisor is that employees are more than supervisors
than you in this case if you have the staff more than your ages and you will have
the internal problems too, that is you don't believe in yourself is an insecure leader
(not confidence). How do you respond to that problem?
Answer:
As supervisors, we must have a humble, polite and friendly behavior so that we can
learn from staff and usually get new information and something from our staff and
we must join the seminar to get new knowledge, results, information in the seminar
so that we can always review our work because we always update our knowledge.
Supervisor. Because there are no limits when we learn to be good supervisors and
not the ego to learn from our own subordinates.

6. Tiwi’s question:
How can ordinary staff as supervisors with their responsibilities increase? How
Managers will promote the staff to become a supervisor?
Answer:
Managers always control, evaluate and also ask for human resources because the
human resources department always knows and controls all activities in the
company's department. For example about employee gifts this year. If the staff have
three wars, he can be a supervisor. Because human resources will find all of the best
staff in the one company. So for example, the manager front office department will
ask to human resource and also directing, controlling, evaluating and seeing all of
the activities in the front office department and one of the criteria considered is
taken by the head of human resource department, could be award, honesty, and
punctuality and the direct supervisor could be doing evaluation with himself too.

7. Nita’s question:
How do supervisor conduct or study from the competitors by using market
inteligent. It means the supervisors do direct to the other competitors or ask the
employees to study
Answer:
We can use the SWOT analysis, that we can find the strength, weakness,
opportunity, and threads of our competitors. sometimes we can be a spy to another
company. for example, we have a friend in Mulia hotel, but we are working in
Ayana hotel. we spy ask about the Mulia hotel, ask about the service, ask about the
good advertisements in Mulia that we can improve in Ayana hotel that our job place.
we can learn from our friends, from the skills that we can promote more than in
Ayana hotel. so we can directly ask the competitors like a lier or do spy mission. or
the other example, we can ask our employees they have a friend to the Mulia hotel.
Sometimes people make the matchmaking system could be mistery guests, staying
there and book from booking online and check out and do evaluate but not
supervisor capacity to do that, because in the hotel have the specialist staff to do
that.

8. Maryani’s question:
In one department usually have more than one supervisor, when there is a
supervisor who makes a mistake when handling VIP guest then usually the manager
likes to compare the supervisor with other supervisors. For example, such Poppy in
the morning shift and Gilang in the evening make a mistake when handling the VIP
guest, then the manager gets angry and in the next day the managers will compare
the performance of you, then if you are in that position what to do when faced with
such situations, right afternoon workload and mornings are different, evenings tend
to be more crowded.
Answer:
Poppy better than men, than I did a mistake when I handle the VIP guest, the
manager will angry of course and the manager will compare us, so I learn from the
mistake first and also learn from poppy too, so we can combine our knowledge so
I can evaluate my self and of course I can minimize my mistakes.

9. Lely
As we know, in the hotel there are much staff. What will you do if you find lazy
staff when you are supervisor in the hotel?
Answer:
As supervisors, if we find lazy staff, we have to do and model a job for our
employees. if we can persuade each other so your staff will follow you of course,
but back to yourself again you are a supervisor it means you are a leader. so if you
are lazy or looks like a boss just sitting in the office, didn't do observation or
controlling your staff, the staff will lazy to do the job. You should do be the example
for your staff first and the staff will follow you. For example, you should work at 8
o'clock, so you should come earlier than that time and your staff will follow your
attitude to be on time and hardworking staff.

CONCLUSION
Supervision activities are activities that a manager plans through the
activities of guidance, direction, observation, motivation and evaluation on his staff
in performing daily activities or tasks.
Supervisors should try to maintain the relationship between employees and
management so as to create a conducive atmosphere. The desires of each party will
be realized if the conditions or ethics are mutually agreed upon and implemented
of course. supervisors need an understanding of the attitudes, skills, knowledge, and
characteristics of a supervisor's work so that goals can be achieved effectively and
efficiently.
Even though a supervisor gets pressure from several parties if we become a
supervisor it is not a big problem for us we must learn how to respond to that
pressure to be the result we want, in addition to pressure the supervisor will also
find pressure in his work.
