With reference to the above, please find enclosed herewith the fee structure for all
UG and PG courses of Visvesvaraya Technological University for the year 2010-2011. You
are informed to follow the same.
The contents of this Notification may be brought to the notice of all the concerned.

Sub: Eligibility Criteria for Admission to 1st Sem B.E. /B.Tech. / B.Arch.
Courses & List of Recognised equivalent courses – reg….
With reference to the above, it is hereby notified to all the Principals of Engineering
Colleges affiliated to/ Autonomous under VTU that the guidelines specified below shall be
followed for admitting candidates to I year B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. courses.
1. Academic Eligibility :
a) For admission to B.E./B.Tech. Courses: The student should have passed Karnataka
2nd PUC /12th standard or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with
Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Electronics / Biology as optional
subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained a minimum of 45% of
marks in aggregate in the optional subjects. In case of candidates belonging to Karnataka
Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other Backward Classes (Category I, 2A,2B, 3A and
3B), the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in
the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.
b) For Admission to B.Arch.: The student should have passed 2nd PUC /12th standard or
equivalent examination with Mathematics as a compulsory optional subject and obtained a
minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in all the subjects in qualifying examination [45%
of marks in case a candidates belonging to Karnataka Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe
and other Backward Classes (Category I, 2A,2B, 3A and 3B)] and should compulsorily
appear for NATA [National Aptitude Test in Architecture] and get a minimum of 40% in it
(including SC, ST and other Backward Classes)
Extract of the Academic Eligibility from the above Govt. orders (ED 10 TEC 2006 dated
28-2-2006 and ED 10 TEC 2006 dated 9-6-2006) are enclosed for compliance.
2.Recognised Equivalent Courses for admission to First year B.E./B.Tech./
B.Arch.
Pursuant to Executive Council Resolution no. 3 of 13th June 2005, 12 years of schooling
(10+2) / Boards / Universities/ in India or abroad as listed in the enclosed Annexure-I
are recognized as equivalent to Second year P.U.C. of Karnataka P.U.E. Board,
Bangalore for admission to first year degree course in Engineering and Architecture.
However, this is subject to satisfying eligibility requirements as laid down from time to
time by the State Govt. and University. The candidates who have passed from
Boards other than the list have to compulsorily obtain clearance from
Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi before confirming admission in
the college .
The eligible candidates (other than the students of P.U.E. Board, and C.B.S.E.
exam passed in Karnataka) seeking admission to the first year Engineering and
Architecture course should obtain the eligibility certificate, from the concerned college.
Further the Principals of Engineering colleges are authorized to issue provisional eligibility
certificates to the candidates after duly confirming academic eligibility and collecting
the fees as prescribed below.

The amount so collected along with list of students admitted to the course as per
format as given in Annexure – II , should be sent to the undersigned, within 10 days from
the date of issue of provisional eligibility certificate along with attested Xerox copies of
documents on which eligibility certificate is issued (Attested Xerox statements of marks,
valid passport, valid visa). A copy of the eligibility certificate attested by the principal
should be endorsed to the undersigned.
Any fee payable to the University should be in the form of D.D. in favour of
“Finance Officer, VTU, Belgaum” and payable at Belgaum.
